D. Westerfield R. D. Westerfield, a well known citizen of the Masonville neighborhood, died of pneumonia, after an illness lasting about ten days, Sunday afternoon at 1:55 o'clock. The remains were brought to Owensboro and taken to the home of his son, W. D. Westerfield, 419 East Fifth street, where the funeral took place at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon with services by Rev. Horace Kingsbury, assisted by Dr. M. G. Buckner. The interment was in Rose Hill cemetery, with the following acting as pallbearers: J. F. Bickers, Walter Samuels, W. L.Stephens, J. S. Taylor and Richard M. Nave. Mr. Westerfield was born in Ohio County November 4, 1838, and was 81 years of age. The deceased is survived by six children: W. D. Westerfield of Owensboro, T.(sic) F. Westerfield, of Wysox, Ky., Isaac Westerfield, Fordsville, R. M. Westerfield, Jacksonville, Florida, and Mrs. J. W. Clarke, Owensboro and Mrs. Sarah Louellen, Owensboro; also about 40 grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren.
