Served as a Pvt in Capt. Samuel R Combs and Capt. James Dudley’s Co. of Kentucky Militia in the Regt commanded by Col. Francisco. He enlisted 15 Aug. 1813 and served until 19 Nov 1813 and again on 8 Feb 1815 and served to 7 Mar 1815. In 1854 and 1855 they lived in Owen, KY and 1872 in Gallatin Co., KY. His wife is Theodocia Adcock and they were married in 1842 at Sligo, Henry Co., KY. The Soldier served as a substitute for Willis Grimes in Capt. James Dudley’s Company. On 4 Mar 1854 Capt. James Dudley deposed at Fayette Co. and stated that William T. Foster served under him in the War of 1812. On 20 Mar 1854 William deposed at age 56 in Owen Co. KY and stated that he enlisted on or about July or August 1813 in Clark Co., KY for a period of three months, and that he was discharged at Winchester, KY on or about October of November 1813; that he again volunteered in Scott Co. KY as a substitute for Willis Grimes in Jan. 1815 and that he was honorably discharged at Urbana OH in Mar 1815. He is applying for Bounty Land. He deposed again on 6 Apr 1855 in Owen Co., KY and stated that he was a private in the company commanded by Capt. Samuel R Combs in the Regt. of KY volunteers commanded by Col. Richard M. Johnson, that he volunteered at Scott Co., KY and that he received 80 acres of Bounty Land which he legally disposed of and now wishes the additional bounty land to which he is entitled. On 14 Feb 1871 his residence is in Gallatin Co., KY with a P.O. address at Owentown, Owen Co., KY. On 25 Apr 1872 he deposed at age 74 as a resident of Gallatin Co., KY and said that he enlisted in Capt. Samuel R Combs Co of Col. Richard Johnson’s brigade at Athens, Fayette, KY in Aug 1813 and that he was discharged at Winchester, Clark, KY in Oct. 1813. ancestry.com lists Delila T. Foster b. 1836 KY as his daughter who married William N. Simpson 4 Dec 1853 in Owenton, Owen, KY. She is in the 1860 Census of Grant, KY with her husband and Anderson Simpson age 66 and Susan Simpson age 62.
