Will of Abraham Winscut (Wainscott) From: Sandy3@webtv.net (Sandy Schooler) Date: Thu, 22 May 1997 16:01:51 -0500 Owen County Will Book A, Page 1 In the name of God amen, I, Abraham Winscut of the county of Owen and state of Kentucky, being weak and low, but of sound mind and memory, do make, constitute and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form as follows, to wit, first I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife, Catherine Winscut, the following items of property, fifteen head of my cattle stock as she may choose, all my household furniture, farming utensils, forty head of hogs, my rifle gun, my brown horse called Jack, eleven head of sheep, all of the above mentioned property to be kept together for the use and benefit of my loved wife and children and should my said wife marry, it is my desire that she shall have one third of the before mentioned property and the balance to be sold by my executors for the benefit of my children. Furthermore, it is my desire that the balance of my stock at my death shall be sold by my executors and the money arising therefrom to be applied to the education of my children. It is also my wish and desire that three hundred dollars of the money I have on hand and the debts due me, when collected, shall be given by my executors for land. It is my desire that my said wife and children shall live on said land, when bought, until my youngest child arrives to the age of twenty-one, should my wife remain a widow so long, but in case she should marry, it is my will that the land shall be rented by my executors until my said youngest child arrives to the age above named, at which period it is my wish the land shall be sold and the money arriving from the same to be equally divided amongst my children, except my son, Zebulon Winscut, and to him I give one share and a half. I do hereby appoint Abraham McMeens of Owen county and Isaac Million of Henry County my executors. Signed and dated this 23rd day of January 1820 in the presence of Henry Carter Jr. and E.D.
