JACOB U. RIGGLE is a native of what is now West Virginia, and was born April 7, 1852, the son of Zephniah and Elizabeth (Hill) Riggle, who were natives of Pennsylvania, but removed to Virginia in 1852, and thence came to Pendleton County, Ky., in 1866. George Riggle, the paternal grandfather of Jacob U., was born in Germany, January 10, 1777, came to America in 1790, settled in Pennsylvania, and married Miss Rachael Spears, a native of Wales. Jacob U. Riggle was educated at the University of Kentucky, Lexington, and in 1876 engaged in mercantile pursuits, which he followed until 1883, when he was appointed county receiver of Pendleton County, and has been reappointed twice, thus holding the office three successive terms. His present term will expire in January, 1888. He was married in February, 1878, to Miss Kate Ellis, daughter of Hayden Ellis, formerly sheriff of Bracken County. Mr. Riggle has, besides town property, a fine farm of 300 acres in Pendleton County, about four miles from Falmouth. *****************************************************************************
