HON. JACOB T. SIMON was born in Owen County, Ky., September 9, 1846, and is a son of Francis and Eliza A. (Musselman) Simon. Francis Simon was born September 9, 1808, in a village near Harve de Grace, France; he immigrated to the United States in 1834, and settled at Morristown, N.J., from where he removed to Grant County, Ky., and located near Corinth, where he was married. By occupation he was a planter, and raised a family of six children, of whom four now survive. He and his wife still live in Grant County. John Simon, grandfather of our subject, was a native of France, and was a soldier in the army of the first Napoleon. The maternal grandfather of Jacob T. Simon was a native of Kentucky, and a soldier in the war of 1812, in which service he enlisted at the age of fifteen; he died in 1866, at the age of seventy-eight. Jacob T. Simon was reared and educated in Owen County, Ky., and at the age of nineteen began reading law with H. P. Montgomery, of Owenton. He was admitted to the bar in 1868, and began practice at Williamstown, Ky., but subsequently, in 1869, moved to Falmouth, Pendleton County, where he located permanently in the practice of his profession. In 1874 he was elected county attorney of Pendleton County; in 1875, 1876 and 1877 was elected city attorney of Falmouth; in 1881 was elected to represent the county in the Lower House of the Legislature; in 1885 he served in the State Senate. Since that time he has devoted himself to his law practice. He owns several fine farms in Pendleton and adjoining counties, and is largely interested in stock raising. September 17, 1872, he was married to Miss Maggie McClure, daughter of John A. and Eunice K. McClure, of Grant County, and one child--Stella R.--has blessed their union. Mr. Simon is a man of means, and is closely identified with all enterprises looking to the growth and development of Falmouth.
