He made declaration that he is 75 years of age and a resident of Pendleton County, KY. That he enlisted in the Continental service of the Revolutionary War, as a Captain of the 10th VA Regiment, which was commanded by Colonel Edward STEPHEN, on January 14. 1777. In September 1778 he was returned home till wanted for duty. This application was made before Robert TAYLOR, Justice of the Peace. In Pendleton County, KY - Reuben McCARTY made declaration to prove (June 2, 1849) the residence and time of death of Captain John Mountjoy. He stated that the Revolutionary soldier, John Mountjoy, resided in Pendleton County, KY, and that he died in February or March 1825. In Pendleton County, KY on July 2, 1849, Samuel Thomas HANSER also made like statement. John Mountjoy, who was a Captain in the VA line for one year and eighteen months, was inscribed on the pension roll of KY agency to commence on June 15, 1818.
