Kentucky Civil War Pension Application Exerpts from pension #428744 First Document: State of Kentucky, County of Knott, SS: On this 24 day of July, A.D. one thousand eight hundred and ninety personally appeared before me, a clerk, of the Knott Co. a Court of Record within and for the County and State aforesaid Henderson Baker, aged 62 years, who, being duly sworn according to law, declares that he is the identical Henderson Baker who was enrolled as a Pvt. on the 2th day of Jan, 1862 in Company D, of the 19th Regiment of Ky. Inft. commanded by Capt A. E. Adams and was honorably discharged at Louisville on the 26 day of Jan, 1865. Second Document: DECLARATION FOR PENSION State of Kentucky, County of Laurel,SS: On this 24th day of May, one thousand nine hundred and Twelve, personally appeared before me, a Notary Public, withing and for the county and State aforesaid, Henderson Baker, who, being duly sworn according to law, declares that he is 83 years of age, and a resident of Fariston, county of Laurel, State of Kentucky; and that he is the identical person who was enrolled at Harrodsburg, Ky., on the 2nd day of January, 1862, as a private in Co.B, 19th Reg., Ky. Inft. Vols. in the service of the United Stated in the Civil War, and was honorably discharged at Louisville, Ky, on the 26th of January, 1865. That he was not employed in the military or naval service of the United States otherwise than as stated above. That his personal description at enlistment was as follows: Height, 5 feet 7 inches; complexion, dark; color of eyes, brown; color of hair, black; and that his occupation was, a farmer; that he was born Dec. 18, 1828 at Perry County, Ky. That his places of residence since leaving the service have been as follows: Perry County, Ky., 1865 to 1889; Knott Co., Ky. 1889 to 1904; Laurel County, Ky., 1904 to present time.
