Lailon Dan Flannery, 72, of Crab Orchard, formerly of Junction City, died Monday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. Born Jan. 23, 1930, in Perry County, he was the son of the late Palmer and Gladys Reynolds Flannery. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Price Flannery. He was ordained in 1968 and had served in local churches, including Pleasant View Baptist, Freedom Baptist, Poplar Grove and Pleasant Run, and had served at Southern Heights Baptist Church in Danville for 14 years. Survivors include his son, Sonny Flannery of Harrodsburg; two daughters, Dorothy Huffman of Cummins, Ga., and Mildred Rankin of Dawsonville, Ga.; a brother, Myrl Flannery of Stanford; four sisters, Annette Caudill, Sue Robbins and Betty Price, all of Crab Orchard, and Kathy Smith of Louisville; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Southern Heights Baptist Church by the Revs. Junior Fields, Dan Gutenson, Jim Henisson, Michael Spurr Jr. and Paul McFarland. Burial will be in Junction City Cemetery. Visitation is after 4 p.m. today at Stith Funeral Home. Memorials may go to the American Diabetes Foundation or Lottie Moon Missionary Fund.
