Indian Burial Ground and McCoy Cemetery, Jamboree, Pike Co. Kentucky This cemetery is beside the Slone Cemetery on Praters Branch The first Left then the first Right in the weeds There is only one readable stone in this cemetery. I will try to describe it. I know of at least 3 people that have been buried here. This was told to me by my Great Uncle Lonnie Daugherty who is the son of John D. and America McCoy Daugherty and the Grandson of Phoebe McCoy and Dan Prater. McCoy, Matilda Jane B. May 1855 W/O Harrison McCoy McCoy, John B. 1914 S/O Salsbury McCoy McCoy, Salsbury B. Mar 1884 S/O Addison "Att" and Elizabeth Estep McCoy Now I will try to describe the readable stone. the first letter is sort of like a q but tilted up to the left, the next letter is an E, the next letter looks like a p but has a tail curling to the front, the next letter is an I but, the crossing lines tilt like a smiley face and a frown, the next letter is unreadable, the next letter is an H, the next letter is a backward E and the last letter is an M. This is a hand carved stone. The only date on it is 1806 with the letters S P on the bottom. THERE ARE AT LEAST 28 GRAVE DEPRESSIONS AT THIS LOCATION. IF ANYONE CAN TELL ME WHO ELSE IS BURIED HERE I WOULD APPRECIATE IT. ==================================================================== USGENWEB NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free information on the Internet, data may be used by non-commercial entities, as long as this message remains on all copied material.
