The Union Association of "Old Regular Baptist Churches" of Jesus Christ met with the Pilgrim Rest Church, Myra, Pike County, Kentucky, Friday morning, September 15 1922, and after singing by the congregation and a pointed introductory by Elder A. L. Mercer, the introductory sermon was delivered by Elder J. C. Swindall. Then after a short intermission the delegates from the several churches assembled a the Church House and after singing and prayer by Elder Ellis V. Hopkins, the Association proceeded to business in the following order: 1. Called for the letters from the several churches which were handled in, read and received, and the delegates searted as shown in the table of statistics. 2. The Association then organized by electing Elders J. C. Swindall, moderator; John Hopkins, Assistant Moderator, and Elder Joe Hall, Clerk, and Elder G. Bennett Adams, assistant clerk. 3. Called for newly constituted churches and received one by the name of "Dorton Creek," at the hands of her delegates to wit: G. W. Osborne, Enos Tackett and Wilburn Vanover, who received the right hand of fellowship and took seats with us. 4. Called for corresponding letters from sister associations and received one from the Friendship Association at the hand of her delegate, Neel Roberts. One from Indian Bottom Association at the hand of her delegate, Elder Boone Cornett. One from the New Salem Association at the hand of her delegate, Elder Ellis V. Hopkins and Brethren Hiram Tackett and Will Tackett; all of these delegates received the right hand of fellowhship by our Moderator and took seats with us and aided us in council. 5. Called for transient Ministers and Members and received Elders N. T. Hopkins, F. M. Addington, A. L. Mercer, B. H. Baker, Ira Mullins, J. H. Sanders, George Elkins, D. D. Mullins, J. M Gibson, Roscoe Baker, B. B. Hall, Cline Tackett, Martin V. Burke, Winston May, A. B. Potter, W. M. Childers, and Brethren George Johnson, J. H. Belcher, A. C. Cline, and Silas Stanley, who received the right hand of fellowship by the Moderator and took seats with us. 6. On motion agreed that the Moderator make all temporary appointments during this session. 7. Appointed a Committee on Ministry, consisting of one delegate from each Church and the entire delegation from Pilgrim Rest Church who reported the following ministers to occupy the stand on Saturday; first, Ira Mullins; second, Boone Cornett; 3rd, Ellis V. Hopkins; 4th, A. L. Mercer; 5th, B. H. Baker. 8. Appointed the Clerk and Assistant Clerk to write the corresponding letters to sister associations, and agreed to correspond with New Salem, Indian Bottom, Mud River and Friendship Associations. 9. Appointed a Committee of Arrangements consisting of one delegate from each Church with the Moderator and Clerks, corresponding delegates from sister associations and transients invited to attend to arrange the business of the Association for tomorrow. 10. On motion of Elder John Hopkins the Association adjourned until 9:00 O'Clock Saturday morning. Saturday, September 16th Met pursuant to adjournment and after singing and prayer by Elder N. T. Hopkins proceeded to business in the following order 1. Called the roll and marked the absentees 2. Called on the Committee of Arrangements to report who reported and were discharged. 3. Appointed J. J. Stanley, W. M. Powell, and W. D. Bryant as a committee on Finance, who reported from the several churches the sum of $143.95. 4. Called on Secretary and Treasurer to report who reported the books complete, all the expenses of the Association met and the sum of $27.05 on hand from last year which with the sum received from the several churches makes a total of $171.00 in his hands for the year. 5. Called on those appointed last year to attend Associations and Union meetins to report, who generally reported satisfatorily, but some failures were reported and those family to attend were excused. 6. Apponted the same Committee on Ministry as of Yesterday, who reported the following ministers to preach on Sunday: 1. Elder John Hopkins 2. Elder G. Bennett Adams 3. Elder Joe Hall 4. Elder N. T. Hopkins 5. Elder J. C. Swindall 7. The corresponding letters to sisters associations were read and received and appointed the following delegates to bear the same to them: To Friendship Association, Elders Joe Hall and William Childers. Letter in the hands of Elder Joe Hall, to bear the same to be held with the Friendship Church, Wyoming County, West Virginia, to commence on Friday before the second Saturday in September, 1923, and the two following days. To Indian Bottom Association, Elders Mack Smith, Wiley Wright, Willis Tolliver, Joe Hall. Letter in the hands of Elder Willis S. Tolliver, to bear the same to be held with the The New Home Church, Hindman, Knott County, Kentucky, to commence on Friday before the first Saturday in September, 1923, and the two following days. To New Salem Association, Elders G. Bennett Adams, S. Tilden Wright, Hatler Mullins and Brother N. R. Webb. Letter in the hands of Elder G. Bennett Adams, to bear the same to be held with the Balls Branch Church, Kentucky, to commence on Friday before the fourth Saturday in September, 1923, and the two following days. To Mud River Association, Elders Mack Smith, B. B. Hall and Joe Hall. Letter in the hands of Elder Joe Hall, to bear the same to be held with the Sarah Church, Boone County, W.VA, to commence on Friday before the fourth Sunday in August, 1923, and the two following days. 8. Appointed G. Bennett Adams, secretary and treasurer, and to superintend the printing of the minutes, and is to ordered that he have 2500 copies printed, reserve 300 copies for sister associations and distribute the remainder among the churches according to contribution as near as can be so as to give each church sufficient number and that he be allowed the sum of $15.00 for his services. 9. Appointed Union meetings as shown under the heading. 10. The circular prepared by Elder G. Bennett Adams was read and approved and ordered to be printed in these minutes and that W. R. Mullins be appointed to write a circular letter for next year. 11. Ordered that all the obituaries of our deceased members be furnished to the Clerk before going to press be printed in these minutes. 12. Took up the item with reference to the New Mount Olive Church and also the corresponding letter from the Little Stone Association and we say to the New Mount Olive Church which is attempting to withdraw from the Little Stone Association that we do not at this time feel justified in receiving this Church into our body, but advise this Church to make peace with the Little Stone Association if possible and we say to the Little Stone Association that it being shown that she is in disorder by holding Elder William Bentley in her fellowhip. We therefore say that we cannot now receive your letter but advise her to make a thorough invistigation of his case and if he is found to be the guilty party to exclude him and set themselves in order and then we will receive them and again correspond with them. 13. Took up the item with reference to the Lonesome Dove Church and it being shown in her letter that she openly dissented fromt he fifteenth item of our last years minutes. It is therefore ordered that we drop this Church from our fellowhip until she becomes reconciled to the Order of this Association. 14. Took up item with reference to Bethel Church and it is ordered that Monroe Wright be published in disorder, he being excluded from the fellowhip of that Church. Also upon the request of Little Dove Church it is ordered that Jeff Chatman and J. P. Hatfield be published in disorder they being excluded members of the church. 15. Ordered that our next association be held with the Thornton Church, Mayking, Letcher County, Ky to commence on Friday before the third Saturday in September 1923, and that Elder John Hopkins preached the introductory sermon and Elder J.
