She was born in Harlen County, Jan. 29, 1927, a daughter of the late Marcellus and Ella Frances Johnson. She was a member of the Virgie Alliance Church and worked as a bookkeeper for Pikeville Methodist Hospital. She was preceded in death by one son, Lowell Clifton Bentley; one daughter, Karen Louise Bentley; two brothers, Glenn Collier and Lloyd Collier; and one sister, Lorraine Collier. She is survived by two sons, Leslie Bentley Jr. of Long Fork and Randall Bentley of Shelbiana; two daughters, Lindra Bentley of Virgie and Carol Newsone of Little Creek; one brother, Marcellus Collier Jr. of Gibralter, Mich.; one sister, Laverna Brown of Columbus, Ohio; nine grandchildren, Sharman Bentley (Ted) Noe, Derek Newsome, Yvette Newsome (Eddie) Runyon, Kathy Bentley (Chris) Tackett, Saravoot Kaitkalang, Stephen (Angela) Bentley, Lisa Bentley, Brandon (Amanda) Bentley, and Carissa Bentley (Steven) Moriyasu; and five great-grandchildren, Triniti Runyon, Kali Ann Tackett, Jonah Brock Runyon, Evan Bentley, and Avery Trenton Moriyasu A memorial service will be held at noon, Saturday, Nov. 25, in the Hall and Jones Funeral Home Chapel with Allen Johnson officiating. Concluding services will be at the Joe Trivette Cemetery, Jonancy. Arrangements are under direction of Hall and Jones Funeral Home of Virgie.
