He was retired from the Pikeville City School Board where he served as Guidance Couselor at both Pikeville Elementary and Pikeville High School. He was a faithful member of the Grace Baptist Church at East Shelbiana, Pikeville, Kentucky. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army. Receiving the bronze star, silver star and purple heart. He was born in Pike County, Kentucky on September 6, 1924, the son of the late Lewis and Alcie Johnson Clevinger. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a son David Clevinger. He is survived by his wife Ruby Huffman Clevinger. Also survived by a son Henry Douglas "Doug" Clevinger and his wife Sabrina of Wilmington, NC. He is survived by two daughters Cathy Rossi and her husband Lee of Georgetown, Kentucky and Susie Johnson and her husband Stan of Pikeville, Kentucky. Also survived by a brother Bruce Clevinger of Marrowbone Road, Pikeville, Kentucky, three sisters Emma Doris Hatfield of Hazard, Kentucky, Mary Ruth Hatfield of Ashland, Kentucky and Joyce Ann Freels of Oneido, Tennessee. Survived by seven grandchildren Eric Million, Michael Johnson, Steven Johnson, Jordon Johnson, Chazz Clevinger, Lance Clevinger, Trace Clevinger and by two great grandchildren Faith Johnson and Luke Johnson. Jack Clevinger will be sadly missed by his family, loved ones and many friends.
