Obits: King, Nettie Sue Spears Pike County, Kentucky Dec. 2006 Submitted by ; Diane Montgomery Parsons http://www.genrecords.net/emailregistry/vols/00001.html#0000062 ********************************************************************* 1931-2005 (July 2005) Nettie Sue Spears King was born July 26, 1931, on a Sunday in Pikeville, Ky. She and her four brothers, William "Buster" Spears, Raymond Spears, Broadus Spears and Tommy Spears, and three sisters, Betty Salisbury, Helen Gillium and Evalena Bingham, were raised by their parents, Rell and Ada Belle Layne Spears. After a very happy childhood, she met and married her husband, Willie King, at the age of 15. Together they had five children: two sons, David Lee King and Carl Gene King and three daughters, Billie Sue Bradley, Nina Jo Stevens and Nettie Jo Damron. Willie and Nettie King were also blessed with 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Willie and Nettie King enjoyed 581/2 years of marriage but "no matter how many years have passed, the time is still short." Their 59th wedding anniversary would have been on Oct. 26 of this year. She was baptized on May 2, 1976, in The Falls at Westwood United Baptist Church and went home to be with Jesus and the angels on July 11, 2005. After an exhausting battle with cancer, she passed away peacefully with her husband and family by her side only weeks before her 74th birthday at her home in Catlettsburg. Nettie King leaves behind a legacy of joy, laughter, memories and more love than any family could ever experience. A true lady, she was beautiful, kind and caring. She will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of being a part of her life. Mrs. King was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Broadus and Buster Spears; her sister, Betty Salisbury; and an infant grandchild, Kellie Ann Stevens. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Westwood United Baptist Church. She will lie in state from 9 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be at Steen Funeral Home-Marshall Steen Chapel in Ashland from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday. In lieu of flowers, friends may make contributions to Westwood United Baptist Church Building Fund, c/o Malcolm Conley, 315 Lee St., Ashland, KY 41102. Services will be officiated by Elder Clarence Thompson Jr. ************************************************************************ USGENWEB ARCHIVES NOTICE: These electronic pages may NOT be reproduced in any format for profit or presentation by any other organization or persons.
