Irene was born in Pike County on May 31, 1920, a daughter of the late Elzie Thacker and Brooksie Hurley Thacker. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Dot Murphy and Walter Pugh; two grandchildren, Angie Murphy, Heather Webb and one brother Inest Thacker. Irene was a member of the Church of God and a restaurant cook. Left to mourn her passing are her three sons, Forster (Marilyn) Murphy of Willis, MI, Ronnie (Kay) Murphy of Sidney, KY, Kenneth (Nadine) Pugh of Phyllis, KY; one daughter, Geneva (Mrs. Claude) Wheeler of Blaine, KY; two sisters, Lura Cantrell and Fontilla (Mrs. James) Dean of Ypsilanti, MI; four brothers, Royal Thacker of Anderson, SC, Elzie Thacker, Jr., Lee Thacker, Ernest Thacker; thirteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Visitation in Thacker Funeral Home Chapel, Wednesday, June 6, 2007 at 6:00 p.m. with services at 7:00 p.m. with John George Blackburn officiating. Funeral service in Thacker Funeral Home Chapel, Thursday, June 7, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. with Gary Blackburn officiating. Burial in Annie E. Young Cemetery.
