He was the son of the late George and Fae Weddington Ramsey at Weddington Branch in Pike County. He attended Pikeville City Schools, Greenbrier Military School, and Murray State College. He was happily married to Joyce Sowards Ramsey for 56 years. A local entrepreneur and family man, he was a coal operator as well as a mineral and commercial real estate developer. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Sowards Ramsey; sons George Franklin Ramsey and William Norman (Sandra)Ramsey,Jr. of Pikeville, and daughter: Susan Ramsey (David) Aldrich, of Naples, Florida; one brother: Joe Ballard (Rosemary) Ramsey of Pikeville; three grandsons: Benjamin Scott Ramsey, William South Ramsey and Jacob Weddington Ramsey all of Naples, Fl; four granddaughters: Elizabeth Ramsey (Benjamin) Powell of Pikeville, Virginia Ramsey Aldrich, Madeline Greer Aldrich, and Caroline Elise Aldrich all of Naples; one great grandson,Devin Scott Ramsey and one great granddaughter: Macy Elizabeth Powell both of Pikeville; four nephews and one niece. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, James Patton Ramsey. Pallbearers: Ben Ramsey, Will Ramsey, Jay Ramsey, Dave Aldrich, Ben Powell, Pat Ramsey, Jimmy Ramsey, Robert Ramsey, and Joe B.
