Martha Marie Greer Sledge, 84, of Huntsville, Ala., died Wednesday, 
Dec. 6, 2006, at a local hospital.

She was born in Pike County, a daughter of the late Rosa Jane 
Wright Greer.

She graduated from Pikeville College, taught school, worked many 
years for National Garages, Inc. in Detroit, Mich. before starting 
Sledge Body Shop with her husband in Huntsville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Byarm Hope Sledge Jr.; 
one daughter, Terry Ann Sledge; three sisters, Elsie Sowards, Florence 
and Lillie Mae Greer; two brothers Charlie and Foster “Blackie” Greer.

She is survived by three sons, Larry Billiter and Harry Sledge, both 
of Huntsville and Jerry Billiter of Venice, Fla.; 11 grandchildren, 
26 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, in the 
Valhalla Funeral Home with Revs. Stephen St. Johns and David 
Hammond officiating. Burial will follow in the Valhalla Memory Gardens. 
Arrangements are under direction of Valhalla Funeral Home.
