In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Taulbee Smith II. A 1943 graduate of Pikeville High School and an alumna of Western Kentucky University, Smith served for 38 years as home economist for Kentucky Power Company. After her retirement, she began a second career in 1988 with Pikeville Jewelers. A member of the Pikeville United Methodist Church since 1963, Smith was a former Sunday School teacher and women's circle chair. A Kentucky Colonel, she was also a member of the Pike County Democrat Women's Club and served with the Democrat party for more than 40 years as a local precinct officer. An avid bridge player, she was a member of the Friday Night Bridge Club of Pikeville. Smith was past president of the Pikeville Women's Clubs, and former 7th District Governor of KFWC. Survivors include: One son, William T. Smith III, Senior Vice President, Investments, Wachovia Securities, Orlando,FL; her daughter-in-law, Kimberly Kendrick Smith; two granddaughters: Sarah Lynn Smith and Rachel Louise Smith; her sister-in-law, Floydetta Smith Runyon, and her friend and caretaker, Barbara James Pallbearers: Eddy Coleman, Homer Gibson, Sara George, Jim Hobson, Lewis Kendrick Jr.,Bill Kerns, Robert Pinson, Charles L.
