Obits: Taylor, Fon Pike County, Kentucky Nov. 2006 Submitted by ; Diane Montgomery Parsons http://www.genrecords.net/emailregistry/vols/00001.html#0000062 ********************************************************************* 1917 - 9/21/2006 Fon Taylor, age 88, was born December 14, 1917 in Pike County, He was the son of Randolph L. Taylor, Sr. and Dixie Scott Taylor who preceded him in death. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in dath by his wife Edith Bevins Taylor and his three brothers, Virgil, Guy and R.L. "Junior" Taylor. After earning an elementary education degree at Pikeville College, Fon taught school at Sharondale Elementary where he met and fell in love with another teacher, Edith Bevins. Fon and Edith were married in Prestonsburg, Kentucky on February 1, 1941. He enlisted in the United States Air Force after World War II began and was an aerial gunner on B-24 bombers. After the war, Fon was employed by City Service Oil Company, the Kentucky Highway Department and a land agent for Pickand-Mather Coal Company. Fon and his wife, Edith, both confessed Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and were baptized at the First Baptist Church of Pikeville on June 1, 1958. Fon survived by his daughter, Jane Taylor Gray, his son-in-law, Donald "Huey" Gray and two granddaughters Summer Michele Osborne and Ashley Taylor Gray. Four Nieces, a nephew and his faithful caregiver, Cindy Lowe, also survived him. A staunch Republican and a devoted father, Fon's life mission was to ensure the education and financial security of his family. He will be forever remembered by a host of friends and relatives who will sadly miss him. Serving as active pallbearers will be: Richard Dotson, Jerry Thomas, Wayne Hancock, Kenneth Rose, Hal Blake Amos and Don Williamson and serving as honorary pallbearers will be: Donnie Layne, Paul Billiter, George Sharp, Troy Tackett, Walter Weddington and Jack Banks. Visitation: Friday in the J.W. Call Funeral Home from 6pm until 9pm Funeral Service: 11:00am, Saturday, September 23, 2006 at the J.W. Call Funeral Home Chapel with Bro.
