He was born in Pike County on Nov. 3, 1946, a son of Ella Lowe Walker and the late Marion Walker. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one brother, Raymond Walker. He was a disabled coal miner formerly employed by Diamond Coal Company and a member of the Mayflower Unity Baptist Church. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Blanche Runyon Walker; a daughter, Sherry (Tommy) Coleman of Kimper; four brothers, Alden Walker of Mike’s Branch; Don Walker of Hardy and Gordon Walker and Blake Walker, both of Dana; two sisters, Emma Ruth Abbott of Sunbury, Ohio and Loretta Leslie of Lower Johns Creek and one grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7 at the Lucas and Son Funeral Home with Tim McClanahan and Tim Swanston officiating. Burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery, Pikeville. Arrangements are under the direction of Lucas and Son Funeral Home, Pikeville. Visitation will be held Monday, Dec. 25 at 6 p.m. and Tuesday, Dec. 26 at the funeral home with special services at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
