Wayne West, age 99, of Pikeville, passed away Saturday, July 8, 2006 
at the Pikeville Medical Center. 

He was a Farmer and a veteran of World War II serving in the United 
States Army. 

He was born in Pike County, Kentucky on April 8, 1907 the son of the late 
Arthur and Fannie Irick West. 

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul West, 
Ira West and Fon West and two sisters, Fern Sword and Laurel Boyd. 

Wayne is survived by his wife, Lilly Marie Sword West and one son, Phillip West 
of Trenton, MI and one daughter, Betty (Bruce Miller) Justice of Charleston, WV, 
one brother, Carl West of Island Creek and one sister, Iva Compton of Pikeville. 

He is also survived by four grandchildren. 

Serving as active pallbearers will be Chris Clera, Micahel Fields, Roy Fields, 
Billy Dean Akers, Frank Justice, Mike West, Larry Sword and Kenneth Johnson. 

Serving as Honorary pallbearers will be, Paul Ray, Marvin Sword, Lowell Justice, 
Bruce Fields, Dan Luster, David Fields and Joe Slone. 

 
Visitation:  In the chapel Tuesday from 4pm until 9pm with evening services at 7pm  

Funeral Service:  1:30pm Wednesday, July 12, 2006 at the J.W. Call Funeral Home  

Interment:  Sword Family Cemetery - Island Creek
