She was born at Varney, Dec. 28, 1919, a daughter of the late Jackson and Louemma Francis Caines. She was a member of the Zebulon Church of Christ. She is survived by one daughter, Sandra Cadotte of Ann Arbor, Mich.; two brothers, Dan Burnette of Daytona Beach, Fla., and Michael Burnette of Ypsilanti, Mich.; two sisters, Essie (Mrs. Ernest) Charles of Tuscaloosa, Ala., and Beulah (Mrs. George) Robinette of Pikeville; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13, at the Zebulon Church of Christ. Burial will follow in the Burnette Cemetery at Pikeville. Arrangements are under direction of Justice Funeral Services-Pike County Chapel of Zebulon. Brandon Coffey died Wednesday, Dec. 2, 1998, at Darnell Army Community Hospital in Texas. He was born at Fort Hood, Texas, Dec. 2, 1998, a son of James and Patricia Abbott Coffey of Fort Hood. He is survived by his maternal grandparents, Harold and Patricia Dale Abbot of Kimper; and his paternal grandparents, Brenda Coffey of Turkey Creek and Dan Coffey Sr. of Atlanta. Goldie Smallwood Roberts, 91, of Pikeville, died Friday, Dec. 11, 1998, at Pikeville Methodist Hospital. She was born in Pike County, April 25, 1907, a son of the late Soloman and Sarah Horn Smallwood. She was a retired school teacher, formerly employed by the Pike County Board of Education. She was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Roberts; and one brother, Christopher C. Smallwood. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, in the Lucas & Hall Funeral Home Chapel with Scott Tackett officiating. Burial followed in the Newsome Cemetery, Caney Highway. Arrangements were under direction of Lucas & Hall Funeral Home of Pikeville. William O. Coleman, 75, of Fairborn, Ohio, died Sunday, Nov. 29, 1998, at the Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. He was born in Pike County, Dec. 22, 1922, a son of the late Green and Caroline Thacker Coleman. He was a civil engineer at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton, retired after 33 years, was a World War II Army and National Guard veteran, a member of Believers Hope Church of God in Fairborn, and a minister of the Gospel. He is survived by his wife, Ruby Mae Coleman; one son, William James Coleman of Fairborn; five daughters, Elizabeth Boles, Teresa Terry and Peggy Bowers, all of Fairborn, Sharon Lyons of Donnelsville, Ohio, Karen Trader of Union, Ohio; three brothers, John K. of Portsmouth, Ohio, Bobby B. Brandt Mullins, 71, of Zebulon Highway, Pikeville, died at 9:05 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 10, 1998, at his home. He was born in Letcher County, Dec. 4, 1927, a son of the late Worley and Alice Salyers Mullins. He was a retired president and director of Pikeville National Bank, having been affiliated with the bank for more than 50 years. He was a member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce, treasurer of the Pikeville Independent School System, instrumental in getting the YMCA program in Pikeville, and was given the Silver Beaver Award for his work with the Boys Scouts of America. He was active in First Baptist Church, Pikeville, and served on the Finance Committee. He is survived by his wife, Stella McBrayer Mullins; one son, Stephen Mullins of Zebulon; one daughter, Mary Mullins Bradway of Morehead; four brothers, Worley Mullins Jr. of Knoxville, Tenn., Bruce Mullins of LeHigh Acres, Fla., Charles W. Mullins of Cape Coral, Fla., Paul Mullins of Bonita Springs, Fla.; and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13, in the J.W. He was born at Greasy Creek, a son of the late Alfred Ernest and Roxie Riley Hopkins. He was a retired coal miner, formerly employed as a coal loader by Henry Arson Epling, and a U.S. Army veteran. He was preceded in death by one son, Darrell Hopkins; and one daughter, Izetti Hopkins. She was born in Pike County, Jan. 25, 1954, a daughter of the late Newberry and Pearl Carroll Howell. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Pikeville. She is survived by her husband, Ronald Dean Compton; two daughters, Brooke Anne Compton and Jessica Lane Compton, both of Island Creek; one brother, Cecil Howell of Island Creek; and her twin sister, Virley Gunter of Island Creek. Hatler Kiser, 79, of Harrison Newsome Branch, died at 10:45 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22, 1998, at his home. He was born in Floyd County, Sept. 18, 1919, a son of the late Arsno and Martha Hamilton Kiser. He was a retired coal miner and a member of the Bethlehem Old Regular Baptist Church where he was assistant moderator for over 20 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dixie Newsome Kiser, who died May 29, 1996; and one son, Arthur Kiser, who died in 1942. He is survived by one son, Reed Kiser of Jenkins; two daughters, Belle Tackett of Pikeville and Mary Lou White of Bolivia, N.C.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Sanson; and by one daughter, Ethel Emogene Sanson.
