He was born in Pike County, March 8, 1950, a son of Earl and Amba Burris Murphy of Pikeville. He was a mechanic employed by Childers & Venters. Besides his parents, he is survived by three sisters, Loretta Adkins of Pikeville, Sandra Leslie of Harold, and Vanessa Townes of Ivel. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, in the J.W. Call & Son Funeral Home Chapel, with Jim Farley officiating. Burial followed in the Miller Family Cemetery at Stone Coal. Arrangements were under direction of J.W. Call & Son Funeral Home of Pikeville. Pallbearers were Rondal Miller, Gene Slone, Marvin Leslie, JohnTownes, Stallard Boyd, Ray Vanover, Curry Vanover, and Tim Adkins. Daniel "Boone" Epling, 70, of Elkhorn City, died Thursday, Nov. 19, 1998, at Mountain View Health Care Center in Elkhorn City. He was born in Pike County, May 19, 1928, a son of the late Jerry and Lydia Adkins Epling. He was a retired coal miner. He is survived by his wife, Pauline Ratliff Epling; three daughters, Diane Blackley of Tolbert, Tenn., Sherry Webb of Phyllis, Paulette Stiltner of Elkhorn City; four brothers, Bobby Jr. Epling and Harold Dean Epling, both of North Carolina, Eugene Epling of Conover, N.C., Goble Epling of California; nine grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 22, in the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel, with Bill Ford officiating. Burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery, East Shelbiana. Arrangements are under direction of Bailey Funeral Home of Elkhorn City. Bonnie Tackett, 30, of Raccoon, died at 4:56 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, 1998, at Pikeville Methodist Hospital, the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Funeral arrangements were incomplete at presstime and will be announced by Justice Funeral Services of Pikeville. Starla Faye Rogers, infant daughter of Nickie Lee and Kathy Parsons Rogers of Shelbiana, died Saturday, Nov. 21, 1998, at Pikeville Methodist Hospital. Besides her parents, she is survived by one brother, Dakota Lee Rogers of Shelbiana. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24, in the Bethel Freewill Baptist Church, with Freewill Baptist ministers officiating. Burial will follow in the Hall Cemetery, Island Creek Road, Pikeville. Arrangements are under direction of Lucas & Hall Funeral Home of Pikeville. Special services will be held nightly at 7 p.m.
