She was born in Patch Grove, Wis., Jan. 28, 1914, a daughter of the late Roy E. Horsfall and Mary Pearl Ball. She was a staff worker at Southland Bible Institute and a member of the Justiceville Bible Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Judson Buford Martin. She is survived by five brothers, J. David Horsfall of Avon Lake, Ohio, James Horsfall of Madison, Wis., Paul Horsfall of Decorah, Iowa, Ralph Horsfall of Lansing, Mich., Robert Horsfall of Prairie du Chien, Wis.; and three sisters, Marian Manion of Madison, Margaret Taft of Barrington, R.I., and Lela Johnson of Tacoma, Wash. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 27, in the Justice Funeral Home Chapel with Ernie Justice and Wade Bostic officiating. David Carl Hankins, 90, of Sidney, died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1998, at Pikeville Methodist Hospital. He was born in Pike County, Nov. 27, 1907, a son of the late Andrew Perry and Sarah Ann Gannon Hankins. He was retired from the N&W Railroad and was a member of the Dix Fork Regular Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Edna Mae Hankins; and his second wife, Goldie Scott. He is survived by one son, Larry Hankins of Johannesburg, Mich.; one sister, Ida Smith of Sidney; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 27, in the Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Larry Hankins and Chris Newsom officiating. Burial will follow in the Smith Cemetery at Sidney. She was born at Myra, March 4, 1906, a daughter of the late Alanande Burke. She was in the food service industry. She is survived by one son, Rondle L. Davis of Taylor, Mich., three grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. She was born in Pike County, March 28, 1918, a daughter of the late Orbe and Cora Stuart Tackett. She was a former employee of Ramey's Dairy Bar and was of the Holiness faith. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Auty Stanford Mullins; her second husband, Alden Hess; four sons, Tommy Mullins, Ervin Hess, Finis Hess, and Rex Hess; and two daughters, Rexenia Hess and Geneva Singleton. Virgil Justice, 84, of Pikeville, died Thursday, Nov. 26, 1998, at his home. He was born at Fishtrap, Sept. 22, 1914, a son of the late William Hibbard and Maude Justice. He was an insurance counselor at Virgil Justice Insurance for the past 50 years, a former school teacher, a member of the National Bankers Association, a member of the Virginia Continuing Education Program, and one of the founders of Grundy National Bank. He began a teaching career in 1937, leaving it to start an insurance career in 1946. He and a few partners filed a charter for Grundy National Bank in 1967, where he sat as a chairman on the board of directors from 1980 to 1997. He was preceded in death by his wife, Glema Justice; and one daughter, Glendora J. Gilliam. He is survived by one son, Virgil Blake Justice of Pulaski, Va.; one daughter, Pamela Jane Bartley of Fishtrap; six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 29, in the Morris Chapel. Entombment will follow in the J.U. Thacker Memorial Mausoleum, East Shelbiana. Dallas Dean Smith, 61, of Phelps, died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington. He was born May 25, 1937, a son of the late Wilburn and Marcella Smith. Anzie Mullins Tackett, 92, of Pikeville, died Friday, Nov. 27, 1998, at Parkview Manor Nursing Home, Robinson Creek. She was born at Stewart, Aug. 7, 1906, a daughter of the late John B. and Mary Francis Mullins. She was a homemaker and a member of the Caney Creek Freewill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, James "Matt" Tackett; one son, Curtis Elswick; three daughters, Pansy Newsom, Daryl Damron, Alma Fleming; and three infant children, Whetzel Mullins, John L. Mullins, and an infant son. She is survived by three sons, Charles Bit Elswick of Caney Highway, Pikeville, Roosevelt Elswick of West Liberty, James Madison Tackett of California; two daughters, Dorothy Trusso of Florida, Kathy Sulkes of Connecticut; one brother, Milton Mullins of Pikeville; three sisters, Mary Ethel Branham of Collins Highway, Pikeville, Elizabeth Marrs of Caney Highway, Dessie Morgan of Tennessee; 32 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.
