She was born in Heenon, June 9, 1909, a daughter of the late William “Bud” and Anna Maynard Stafford. She was a retired licensed practical nurse, formerly employed by Pikeville Methodist Hospital in the obstetrics department, and a member of the Regular Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her sister, Ova Stafford Maynard; four half-brothers and half-sisters, and one nephew, Dale Maynard; and Michael Hanners from her “adopted” family. She is survived by one niece, Nella Kitchen of Ashland; five great-nieces and great-nephews, and seven great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. She is also survived by her “adopted” family, Edith and Devin Hanners of Pikeville, Bradley and Carole Ann Hanners of Lexington, and their three children, Brian, Rachel and Matthew. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 29, in the Apple Orchard Regular Baptist Church with Regular Baptist ministers officiating. Burial followed in the Apple Orchard Cemetery. Arrangements were under direction of J.W. Call & Son Funeral Home of Pikeville.
