He was born in Pike County, Aug. 22, 1938, a son of the late William H. and Marie Maynard Taylor. He was a retired teacher and coach, employed by the Pike County School System for 33 years, and a member of the Gulnare Freewill Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Ernestine Branham Taylor; two sons, Billy D. Taylor of Owensboro, Robert S. Taylor of Morehead; one daughter, Pamela (Mrs. Jeff) Ratliff of Pikeville; one brother, Gary Taylor of Cynthiana; and five grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12, in the J.W. Call & Son Funeral Home Chapel, with Melvin Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in the Bent Ridge Cemetery, Meta. Arrangements are under direction of J.W. Call & Son Funeral Home of Pikeville. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the Gulnare Freewill Baptist Church Building Fund. Pallbearers are Jim Tom Allen, Eugene Lyons, Kenneth Hale, Arnold Thacker, Dave Thomas, Dean Harville, Richie Smith, Dean Branham, Jeff Taylor, Matt Taylor, and Jason Reeves.
