She was born in Pike County, June 2, 1930, a daughter of the late John and Fannie Smith. She was a former school teacher, employed by the Pike County Board of Education. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Goble “Pete” Alley; two sons, David Alley and Gary Alley; one brother, Jimmy Rosevelt Smith; one sister, Lorraine Smith; and one granddaughter, Keri Lynn Smith. She is survived by three daughters, Denise (Mrs. David New of McCarr, Kathy (Mrs. Doug) Staggs and Karen (Mrs. Jackie) Smith, both of Ransom; one sister, Joyce Whitt of Ransom; and six grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, in the Rogers Funeral Home Chapel, with Mike Smith officiating. Burial followed in the Alley Cemetery, McCarr. Arrangements were under direction of Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry. Pallbearers were Billy Prater, Barry Ratliff, Jamie Trout, David Cook Jr., Shelly Hensley, and Delynn Meek. Honorary pallbearers were Trent Riddle, Eddie Blackburn, Paul Farley, Clinton Layne, Rick Browning, James Varney, and Dave Gooslin.
