Anna C. Charles, 89, of Burdine, died Thursday, Nov. 20, 2003, 
at Parkview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Robinson Creek.

She was born in Pike County, July 18, 1914, a daughter of the late 
James M. and Della Reynolds Compton.

She was a retired school teacher and a member of the Burdine Freewill 
Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Charles; and one son, 
Robert Bruce Charles.

She is survived by two sons, Ronald Charles of Dorton and Tom Charles 
of Collins; two daughters, Mary (Mrs. Dave) Bluementhal of Peninsula, 
Ohio, and Delores Charles of Georgetown; one brother, James Compton 
of Collins; two sisters, Liz Riddle of Collins and Marcella Huffman 
of Fort Pierce, Fla.; eight grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 
and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 23, in the 
Burdine Freewill Baptist Church with Ralph Vicars officiating. 
Burial will follow in the Compton Family Cemetery, Collins. 
Arrangements are under direction of Lucas & Hall Funeral 
Home of Pikeville.
