Submitted by: DMP http://www.genrecords.net/emailregistry/vols/00001.html#0000062 Nov. 2003 ******************************************************************* Gladys Adkins Coleman, 84, of Wolfpit Branch Road, died Friday, Nov. 21, 2003, at Pikeville Methodist Hospital. She was born in Pike County, Oct. 24, 1919, a daughter of the late Adam and Eliza Rowe Adkins. She was a homemaker and of the Old Regular Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor Coleman; three brothers; three sisters; and one half-brother. She is survived by her stepmother, Elsie Adkins Lawson of Rockhouse; four daughters, Colleen Sanders (Mrs. Phil) Sayers of Belcher, Patty (Mrs. Layne) Tackett and Sherry (Mrs. Larry) Goff, both of Pikeville, Judy (Mrs. Arlon) Rowe of Lookout; one brother, Elbert Adkins of Lookout; two half-brothers, Adam Adkins Jr. and Dennis Dean Adkins, both of Rockhouse; three half-sisters, Betty Coleman of Mooresburg, Tenn., Darlene Shell and Ruth Evelyn Adkins, both of Rockhouse; two stepbrothers, Johnny Clay Rowe of Rockhouse, Jimmy Ray Fields of Kenly, N.C.; five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 24, in the Samaria Old Regular Baptist Church, Wolfpit, with Old Regular Baptist ministers officiating. Burial will follow in Annie E. Young Cemetery, Chloe Road. Arrangements are under direction of Lucas & Hall Funeral Home of Pikeville. Special services will be held Sunday at 7 p.m. Pallbearers are Jeffrey Tackett, Arlon Rowe Jr., Brian Goff, Chris Goff, Alan Mullins, and Leonard Coleman.
