She was born in Pikeville, June 19, 1923, a daughter of the late George and Priscilla Burgess Allen. She was a homemaker and a member of the Rockhouse Old Regular Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Bartley; one son, Thelmer Bartley; two brothers; and one sister. She is survived by two sons, John Bartley of Rockhouse and Tommy Bartley of Phoenix; three daughters, Judy Harris of Portsmouth, Ohio, Kay Thacker of Wolfpit, Victoria Bannon of Phoenix; one brother, John Allen of Pikeville; four sisters, Violet Newsome and Minnie Newsome, both of Teaberry, Kathaleen Hodge and Joann Henson, both of Elkhorn; 13 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, Oct. 18, in the Samaria Old Regular Baptist Church, Wolfpit, with Old Regular Baptist ministers officiating. Burial will follow in the Bartley Cemetery, Bad Fork of Rockhouse. Arrangements are under direction of Lucas & Hall Funeral Home of Pikeville. Visitation is at the church with special services at 7 p.m. Friday.
