Submitted by: DMP http://www.genrecords.net/emailregistry/vols/00001.html#0000062 Nov. 2003 ******************************************************************* George Walker “G.W.” Dotson Jr., 53, of Ransom, died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2003, at the South Williamson Appalachian Regional Hospital’s Skilled Nursing Facility. He was born at Ransom, June 18, 1950, a son of the late George Walker and Anna Garland Dotson. He was a disabled coal miner, formerly employed by Dotson Coal Co. and Eastern Coal before becoming a co-owner of Calf Branch Coal #1 and #2 mines and Dotco Energy, and of the Church of Christ faith. He was preceded in death by one brother; and one sister. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Scott Dotson; three daughters, Michele (Mrs. Chris) Justice and Angela (Mrs. Michael) Simpkins, both of Ransom, Christy (Mrs. Bryan) Fields of Morehead; four brothers, Charles A. Dotson of Ransom, Ray Dotson of McCarr, Clyde Dotson of Hardy, Claude Dotson of Forest Hills; three sisters, Lois Jean Dotson of McCarr, Edna Fern (Mrs. Joe) Taylor of Lexington, Brenda (Mrs. Fred) Alley of Roanoke, Va.; and four grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, in the Toler Freewill Baptist Church, with Johnny Hatfield officiating. Burial followed in the Dotson Cemetery, Ransom. Arrangements were under direction of Hatfield Funeral Chapel of Toler. Nephews served as pallbearers.
