He was among one of the first families to settle in the hills of Pike County, Ky. He died on May 21 1947 due to heart failure. He was married to Mary Jane BALL. He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Edward Nagosky and Mrs. Jack Sizemore, of Pinson Fork, Ky, one grandson, Johnnie Sizemore and two brothers Toby and Thurston Bevins. He joined the Bent Branch Church of Old Regular Baptist 3rd Sat in June 1921. SMITH, Maryland was the daughter of Robert and Rebecca (Maynard) Smith, she was born May 30 1896 and died on Oct 19 1947. She was married to Isom RAY on October 21 1924, they had 5 children, Hollis, John, Thomas, Betty E. and Mrs. Raymond Syck. She leaves her husband and children, two sisters, Mrs. Noah Bowling of Williamson WVA and Mrs. Elizabeth Miller of Pikeville, Ky. She was a member of the Bent Branch Church of Old Regular Baptist. BALDWIN, Robert was born Mar 21 1883 and died on May 1 1943. He was the son of John F. Baldwin and Celia Baldwin. He was married to Annie CHURCH on Dec 4 1901 and they had 9 children, 5 girls, and 4 boys. Two of the children died in infancy. He joined the Old Regular Baptist Church in 1922. He was buried at the Dry Fork Cemetary in Pike Co., Ky. COLEMAN, Mary Ellen (Mollie) was the daughter of H. E. and Louisa Coleman. She was born Mar 25 1876 at Marrowbone, Pike Co., Ky died Mar 6 1947. She was married to John R. RASNICK on Jun 6 1893 and they had 10 children, two children died in infancy. There are six sons, Bill, Allen, James E., Frank, John, Jr., and Arthur; two daughters Mrs. W. M. Coleman and Mrs. C. R. Cole. She joined the Old Regular Baptist Church Jul 1927. PHILLIPS,Eliza married Alexander Childers in 1892. She was the daughter of Zachariah and Clearinda PHILLIPS; born Dec 28 1861 in Pike Co., Ky and died May 29 1937. She first married Henry EPLING and had 6 boys and 2 girls. Her 2nd marriage she had one boy and one girl. She was a member of the Pike Grove Old Regular Bapt. at Lookout,Ky, Pike Co. THACKER, Peggie J. wife of Epherson THACKER have six boys/four girls. Joined the Philadelphia Church of Old Regular Baptist Church in 1917. Buried at the Lower Pompy Cemetery in Pike Co., Ky. TACKETT, Sam G. died Aug 15 1940; born Pike County, Jun 28 1861. Member of Old Regular Baptist Church. Written by his daugther Elizabeth ROBERTS. ADKINS, Lewis died Mar 30 1940 from dropsy. He leaves two brothers. Before he died he asked Willie Robison to build a casket and he selected his lumber. He asked his brother-in-law Alex Ratliff to see that he was buried on Greasy Creek next to his sister. Buried at the G. W. Robinson Cemetary on Greasy Creek Ky, Pike Co. Written by his sister Evaline Ratliff. RATLIFF, Alex,Sr. born ar Lookout, Ky, Pike Co. on Jan 19 1857; the son of the late Harrison and Louisa COLEMAN Ratliff died Feb 2 1954. Married in Jan 24 1901 to Mary S. BARTLEY having 6 girls/2 boys, 2 boys deceased. Member of the Ashcamp Church of Old Regular Baptist as of Jun 20 1914. SENTER Orville died Apr 16 1945 in Mr. Alto Veterans Hospital, Washington, DC due to cancer; born near Clintwood Va oct 2 1893; the son of the late N. M. and Caroline SANDERS Senter. He was a former teacher of Pike County Schools at Jenkins, Ky. Severed in WWI, married Apr 13 1922 Pebble R. Senter. having 4 children, two died in infancy, surviving, Vivian Doris, Harold Gay and one grandson Victor Burton Ratliff II. Employed by the State of the Highway Dept for 13 years, and for four years a member of the Fiscal Court of Pike County. PHILLIPS, Alaphair was born May 18 1867 on Greasy Creek, Pike Co., Ky and died Jun 14 1944. She was the daughter of Zachariah and Clearinda Phillips. She married Hammon COLEMAN in 1884; having one son. Member of the Greasy Creek Church of Old Regular Baptist. Written by her son, Willie Coleman and her nephew, J. B. Epling ROSE, Freelin was born May 1 1906 Pike Co., Ky and died Sep 18 1943. The son of James H. and Parlee (Childers) Rose. He leaves his father, six brothers, and five sisters. BENTLEY, Burton was born Mar 16 1862 and died Oct 20 1945. He married Mellie ROWE in 1888 having 6 boys/5 girls; two girls and his wife preceded him in death. Member of the Pine Grove Church of Old Regular Baptist at Lookout, Pike Co., Ky. Written by son, Midget Bentley CAUDILL, Grant Foyster was born Sept 16 1917 to Willie and Bertha Caudill at Jeremiah, Ky. He died Feb 24 1967 at Jeremiah, Ky. He was married to Gracie HAMPTON on Feb 28 1940 having 5 sons: Marvin, Pikeville, Ky, Michael, Jeremiah, Ky, David Merle, Murray Foyster, and Tim Morris all at home. He is survived by his sons, his father, Step-mother Della, five brothers: Rankin and David of Fern Creek, Ky, Winslow of Jeremiah, Ky, Verlon of Kodak, Ky, and Hansford of Smithsboro, Ky; 3 sisters: Mrs. Cora Everidge of Jeremiah, Ky, Mrs. Zana Littlefield, and Mrs. Oreva Dickson of Whitman, Mass. ADKINS, L. Grant was b: at Greasy Creek, Pike Co., Ky on Oct 15 1868 and died on Oct 17 1954, the son of Winwright Adkins. He md Anna Elizabeth (COLEMAN) Admins who d: Apr 7 1949. They left 3 sons, Grady, Sollie and Alvin Adkins; two daughters, Fanny Adkins, and Nan Clark. He was a member of the Old Regular Baptist Church. BELCHER, Aggie was born Jul 7 1883 at Blaze Branch on Shelby Creek, Pike Co., Ky, the daughter of Levi and Peggy BEVINS Belcher. She died on Jun 15 1956; she md Hie TACKETT Oct 1900 and they had 5 boys 4 girls. Two sons, Davy, and one infant preceded her in death as did her husband. Leaving behind three sons: Oliver Tackett of Belfry, Ky; Nelson tackett of Cananda, Ky; and Jordon Tackett of Ypsilanti, Michigan; four daughters: Mrs. Alma Slone, Detroit, Michigan; Mrs. Opal Cater, Russell, Ky; Mrs. Maxine Gilliam, Ypsilanti, Michigan; and Mrs. Goldie Childers of Elkhorn City, Ky; one brother, Hendricks Belcher, Bart Lick, Va. Joined the Pikeville Church of Old Regular Baptist Jul 1940. DAVIS, Dona was born Jun 23 1907 and died Sep 1 1955. He left behind his wife, Mae HOPKINS Davis, 3 daughters: Mrs. Ruby Blackburn, Pikeville, Ky; Mrs. Marie Damron, Columbus, Ohio; Mrs. Helen Damron, Yeager, Ky. One Brother, Jeff Davis, Pikeville, Ky; two sisters: Mrs. Causby Wiler, Yeager, Ky; and Mrs. Ida Smith, Virgie Ky. Member of the Old Regular Baptist Church. JUSTICE, Lillie was b: Mar 2 1904 and died Apr 23 1955; she married Lit ADKINS on Nov 17 1920 and had 14 children; four preceded her in death. Funeral was held at the Laura Church on Hurricane Creek, Pike Co., Ky. Member of the Old Regular Baptist Church. SANDERS, Lydia E., the daughter of Hiram and Winnie Sanders born in Pike Co., Apr 1 1887 and died Jul 19 1955. Married Alvin D. Bartley Mar 20 1907 having 5 children; one preceded her in death. Joined the Ashcamp Church of Old Regular Baptist, Oct 19 1935. HALBERT, Octavia born May 14 1906 at Hunter, Ky on Beaver Creek; died May 21 1955 in Pikeville Methodist Hospital; the daughter of Tom and Laura Halbert.; Married Noah Kidd in 1922 they had 8 children; 2 preceded her in death; her husband died in a coal mining accident at Greenough Ky in 1935; she later married Glenn FLEMING in 1937; they had 7 children; one preceded her in death in infancy. She also raised two step-daughters, Betty and Netty Fleming. She joined the Little Hope Church of Old Regular Baptist in Isom, Va, 1941. LOONEY, Elsie Elizabeth the daughter of Gilbert and Parthena Looney born Jan 22 1897 and died at the Pikeville Methodist Hopital, Pikeville, Ky, Dec 27 1954. Married to W. B. BELCHER Jul 14 1915. She leaves 5 boys/4 girls, her husband. Member of the Honey Fork Church of Old Regular Baptist on Ferrell's Creek. CHILDERS, W. M. was born Jul 7 1867 and died Nov 17 1954, the son of Loven and Rebecca RATLIFF. He married Ella P. RATLIFF (deceased) Dec 19 1888 and they had 6 children; 3 deceased. He left: Alvin P. Childers, Lookout, Ky; Mrs. Alpha C. Bartley, Pikeville, Ky; Miss Vera Childers, Ashland, Ky. and the following brothers and sisters: Howard Childers, Belcher, Ky; Mrs. America Robinson, South Shore, Ky; Mrs. Minnie Ratliff, Pikeville, Ky; Mrs. Verna Burke, Elkhorn City, Ky. On Nov 9 1944 he married Armina CHILDERS, they had no children. He leaves step-children: Brice Childers, Mrs. Cynthia Williams, Mrs. Goldie Wells, Mrs. Myrtle Bentley husband Daniel, Evertt Childers, Mrs. Martha Stevens, Mrs. Dollie Derry, Charlie Childers, Ulan Childers md: Agnes Branham; Junior Childers, Mrs. Marie Luster, Lawrence E. (LE) Childers, Mrs. Ruby Caudill. He joined teh Pine Grove Church of Old Regular Baptist in Nov 1914 where he served as an ordained Deacon. RATLIFF, James H. born at Regina, Pike Co., Ky on Dec 9 1866 - Dec 26 1932; son of Joel and Mintie Ratliff. Later married Siddie Christine HATFIELD, Dec 5 1896; 7 children: 2 deceased in infancy. He leaves his wife, five girls, his sister and brother. Joined the Samaria Church of Old Regular Baptist, Aug 4 1906. Written by his sister: Emma Johnson. THACKER, Martha Jane was born in Pike Co., Ky, Apr 1 1851, daugther of William and Rutha Thacker; married to J. R. CONAWAY Aug 7 1872; 7 children; 2 deceased. Member of the Bull Creek Church of Old Regular Baptist. PERRY, McKinley "Arlen" was born Nov 1 1920 in Pike Co., Ky; was killed in an explosion in teh Coples Mines on Aug 28 1941; the son of George Perry leaving his parents, 3 brothers, George,Jr., Tommy and Charlie, and one sister: Rose Marie; one sister: Lillian Frances (deceased). Buried in teh Davy Cemetery at Davy WVA. Written by his grandmother: Mrs. Jennie Bartley DAMRON, Rev. Robert born Nov 16 1838 - Feb 21 1927; married to Rebecca Damron Jan 6 1859, by David Robinson at Yeager in Pike Co., Ky.; 12 children; 3 deceased. He went into the Civil War at the age of 24. he moved to Caney Creek in Pike Co., Ky. He was buried at the A. B. Potter cemetery. Written by his son, John A. HICKS, George was the son of James and Alice Hicks; born Oct 4 1894 died Dec 7 1932; married to Amanda BAILEY on Mar 22 1916; 8 children; one boy, Chester, died five months before his father died. He died at the Pikeville, Ky hospital. Three of brothers are: William, Joseph and Ben. Written by his daughter: Rhoda Hicks. ANDERSON, Polina wife of John HOPKINS and daughter of Him and Spicey Anderson; born Nov 17 1870 - Jun 20 1929; married to H. N. Smith Nov 28 1889; 8 children; 3 died in infancy 5 boys living. H.
