Grover Adkins, Fon Bowling, Delbert Sanders and others officiated. Burial followed in the Wilson Cemetery at Draffin under the direction of the Bailey Funeral Home.She died at 12:50 p.m. last Thursday, Mar 14 1969, at the Pikeville Methodist Hospital, Unit Two, after a long illness. Born at St. Louis, MO., she was a daughter of Harry Fletcher and Venia (Cole) Fletcher. She was a member of the Old Regular Baptist Church. She was the widow of Dave Hylton. Survivors include, three sons, Roy Kelly, Seldon Kelly, and Edward Kelly, all of Lookout, and five daughters, Mrs. Bunnie (Bentley) Hawkins of Elkhorn City; Mrs. Versie (Bentley) Rose Adams of Big Branch; Mrs. Hattie (Kelly) Blackburn of Pikeville; and Mrs. Beatrice (Kelly) Tackett of Big Branch. Versie (Bentley) Rose Adams, 85, of Lookout died Tuesday, Jan 31 1995, at Pikeville Methodist Hospital. She was born in Pike County, May 31 1909, a daughter of the late John Bentley and Maudie (Fletcher) Bentley.She was a widow of Jeff Rose, and is survived by her husband James Adams; one son, DeWitt Rose of Pikeville; one daughter, Geraldine Adkins of Lookout; a granddaughter she and Jeff raised, Gloria (Rose) Gialdella of Columbus, Ohio; one sister, Hattie Blackburn of Pikeville; 14 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Funeral services are scheduled to be held at 11 a.m. Thursday Feb 2, at the Pine Grove Old Regular Baptist Church with Burton Bentley, Dallas Ramsey, Jimmy Dale Sanders, and Charles Wright officiating, and burial following in the Bartley Cemetery at Marrowbone. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home of Elkhorn City. Tom Bentley, 83, of Rockhouse, died at his home last Monday, Jan 18 1943, a victim of paralysis. He had been ill for the past five months. Mr. Bentley had been a resident of Rockhouse for 40 years. He was born in Letcher County. He was farmer and a member of the Old Regular Baptist Church. Surviving are two sons, James of Ashcamp and W. M. Bentley of Stewart; six daughters, Mrs. Margaret Bartley, Mrs. Jennie Holbrook, and Mrs. Esther Cantrell of Hylton; Mrs. Mary Jane Lodge, of Danville, Va; Mrs. Ella Ratliff of Jenkins, and Mrs. Sarah Ann Rose of Ashcamp. Funeral services were held Tuesday, with burial in the Bentley Cemetery on Dry Fork. Dewey Justice, 73, of Phelps, died at 4:10 p.m. May 22 1973 at the Pikeville Methodist Hospital after a long illness. Born in Pike County, he was a son of George and Clemmie (Blankenship) Justice. He was the husband of Mrs. Sally McCoy Justice. He was a retired coal miner and a member of the Masons at Stone. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Earl and Carl Justice both of Titusville, Fla; a daughter, Mrs. Madge Hurley, of Titusville, Fla; a brother, Elliott Justice, of Pikeville; three sisters, Mrs. Cosba Estep and Mrs. Nancy Blankenship, both of Fort Gay, WVA, and Mrs. Martha Slone, of Dayton, Ohio; five grand children, and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Justice were held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Baker Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. DeWitt Furrow and the Rev. Jack Stephens officiated. Burial followed in Johnson Memorial Park. Mrs. Ester Bentley Cantrell, 90, of Shelby Gap, died at 11:30 a.m. May 22 1973 at the Jenkins Clinic, Jenkins, Ky, after a long illness. Born in Pike County, she was a daughter of Thomas and Frances (Bartley) Bentley. She was the wife of Nelson Cantrell and she was a member of the Hylton Old Regular Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, three sons, James George and Clestus Cantrell, both of Shelby Gap; and Albert Wilson Cantrell of Arlington, Va.; a daugther, Mrs. Frances Sanders, of Shelby Gap; two brothers, W. M. Bentley of Caney Creek and James Bentley of Ashcamp; four sisters, Mrs. Ella Ratliff of Dayton, Ohio; Mrs. Vernie Cantrell of Wales, Ky; Mrs. Jenny Holbrook and Mrs. Margaret Bartley both of Rockhouse; 13 grand children; three step great grandchildren; and four great great grand- children. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Hylton Old Regular Baptist Church. Crockett Baker, Dallas Ramsey, Isaac Sanders and others officiated. Burial followed in the Ratliff Cemetery at Shelby Gap under the direction of the Baker Funeral Home. Mrs. Mae (Riley) Bentley, 94, of Greasy Creek, died at 7 p.m. May 23 1973 a the Pikeville Methodist Hospital after a long illness. Born in Ironton Ohio, she was a daughter of Peter Ratliff and Erie (Burton) Ratliff. She was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church. Mrs. Bentley was a midwife for more than 50 years. Survivors inlcude two sons, Lee Berlin Honaker of Hopkinsville Ky, and Raymond Honaker of Yeager; four daughters, Mrs. Minnie Peters; Mrs. Erie Adkins and Mrs. Vestie Adkins, all of Greasy Creek, and Mrs. Tillie Guisenhoner of Washington, DC; Mrs. Ellie McHome of Dayton Ohio; 27 grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Erie Adkins at Greasy Creek. Freewill Baptist Church ministers officiated. Burial followed in the Robinson Cemetery at Greasy Creek under the direction of the Justice Funeral Home. E. C. Searson, Sr., 93, of Mount Pleasant Tenn, died May 23 1973. He was the father of Richmon Searson of Pikeville, Ky. Funeral Services were held at 3 p.m. last Saturday at the Episcopal Church in Columbia, Tennessee.
