record from the County Clerks office for Pike County, KY. without any
attempt to correct obvious errors in spelling.

Marriage Record of Nathaniel Deskins & Sarah Phillips - 1849
(Pike County, Kentucky - File Number 1027)

Mr John D. Mims Clerk of the Pike County Cort please to Ishue Marage
licens for Nathan Deskins and Sary Phillips and oblige etc.
May the first 1849

Know all men by these presents that we Nathaniel Deskins and John
Deskins Jr. are held & firmly bound unto the Commonwealth of 
Kentucky in the sum of fifty pounds good and Lawfull ___ of Kentucky
for the true payment whereof we bind our selves each of our heirs
executors etc firmly (jointly and) severally by these presents
Sealed with our Seals and dated this 8th day of May 1849.
The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas there is 
a Marriage shortly intended to be had and solemnized between 
Nathaniel Deskins & Sarah Phillips if there fore there shall be no
lawfull cause to obstruct said Marriage then the above obligation to
be void else to remain in full force & virtue in law.

These shall License and permit you to join in Marriage according to
the rites and ceremoney of the Church to which you belong Nathaniel
Deskins and Miss Sarah Philips and for so doing these shall be your
sufficient warrant Given under my hand this 8th day May 1849. Att.
John D. Mims Clk.
I John D. Mims Clerk Pike County Court do hereby certify that the
necessary certificate was produced me from John Deskins (Sr.? Jr.?)
& Zachariah Philips parents of the said Nathaniel Deskins & Sarah
Philips authorising me to issue these License Given under my hand
and Security Given in my office.

To any person Legally authorised to Solemnize the rites of matrimony
