This Marriage Record was transcribed from an "original" copy of the
record from the County Clerks office for Pike County, KY. without any
attempt to correct obvious errors in spelling.

Marriage Record of John Thompson & Sarah "Sally" Slater - 1828
(Pike County KY. - File Number 206)

I hereby authorize the Clerk of Pike County to issue License for the
Marriage of John Thompson to Salley Slator for so doing this shall be
your warrant given under my hand this 11th April 1828.

Know all men by these presents that we John Thompson and Robt. 
Aldridge are held and firmly bound unto the Commonwealth of Kentucky
in the sum Fifty Dollars for the true payment well and truly to be
made we bind ourselves and each of our heirs severally and jointly by
these presents sealed with our seals and dated this 11th day of April
1828. The condition of the above obligation are such that whereas
there is a marriage shortly intended to be had and solemnized between
John Thompson and Sally Slater of this County if therefore there is
no lawful cause to obstruct said marriage then the above obligation
to be void else to remain in full force power and virtue.

These shall licence and permit you to join in marriage according to
the Rites and Ceremonies of the Church to which you belong John
Thompson and Sally Slater, and for so doing this shall be your 
sufficient warrant given under my hand this 11th day of April 1828.

certify that the necessary Certificate is given from Jas. Slater and
John Thompson Authorizing the Issuing of these Licence and that the
necessary Bond and Security is given in my office according to Law.

I Thos. Bevins a Justice of the Peace for said Do hereby Certify that
on the 17th Day of April 1828 I have joined in marriage John Thompson
