Taylor, widow of Solomon Taylor Certificate#122190 From the Adjutant General's Office, Washington D.C. November 13th, 1863 Sir, I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt from your Office of application for Pension No. 27.019 adn to return it herewith, with such information as is furnished by the files of this Office. It appears from the Rolls on file in this office, that Solomon Taylor was enrolled on the 21 day of December, 1862 at Liberty in Company F, 12th Regiment ofKentucky Volunteers, to sere 3 years, or during the war, and mustered into service as a Recruit on the 17th day of Jan., 1863, at Louisville, in Co. F, 12th Regiment of Kentucky Volunteers, to serve 3 years, or during the war. On the Muster Roll of Co. F of that Regiment, for the months of Jan. and Feb., 1863, he is reported "Died Feb. 9, 1863 at Lebanon, cause of death not stated. Memoranda Name of applicant, Cynthia N. Taylor Address, Somerset, Pulaski Co., Kentucky My Note: Solomon died of measles less than a month after mustering in. Cynthia Taylor's maiden name was Barnett Synopis of furthur information from Cynthia's pension claim. After Solomon's death, she applied for a widow's and minor child pension. In her claim, she produced a marriage license and certificate showing that she and Solomon were married on Feb. 11, 1861 at Mary Barnett's home (this is Cynthia's mother) in the presense of Daniel Cox and William Perry. The presiding minister was John. K. Martin She furthur claimed that one child was born to this union, James E. (*this is James Irving Taylor), born the 23rd day of March, 1862. This was attested to by Ebney (?) Perry and Nancy Taylor. Other attestors on this claim to the fact that Cynthia had not remarried were: G.C. Freeman, Daniel Cox, Diancius(?) Slaven, and William Perry. This claim was approved commencing on December 5, 1868 in the amount of $8.00 plus $2 per month additional for the one minor. **My note: For furthur information on Cynthia Barnett/Taylor, please see the other file entitled, "Pension claim for Cynthia LOVEALL". Application for claim by Cynthia Loveall, widow of Solomon Taylor after death of second husband, Stephen Loveall Pensioner Dropped U.S. Pension Agency Louisville, KY July 13, 1889 Hon. James Tanner, Commissioner of Pensions. Sir: I hereby report that the name of Cynthia Taylor, widow, who was a pensioner on the rolls of this Agency, under Certificate No. 122190, and who was last paid at $12, to 4, March, 1889, has been dropped, because of the order of the Commissioner of Pensions July 11, 1889. Very respectfully, D.C. Buell, Pension Agent **My note: Cynthia was dropped because of her marriage to Stephen Loveall Declaration of a Widow for Restoration of Pension. (Act of March 3, 1901, Amending section 4708, Revised Statutes.) State of Kentucky, County of Pulaski, ss: On this 19 day of April, A.D. , 1902, personally appeared before me, a Clerk within and for the ocunty and State aforesaid, Synthia N. Taylor, aged 61 years, a resident of -----, county of Pulaski, State of Kentucky who, being duly sworn acording to law, makes the following declaration for the purpose of having her name restored to the pension roll under the act of March 3, 1901, amending section 4708, Revised Statutes: That she was formerly pensioned as widow of Solomon Taylor, Co. F. 12 Reg. Ky who died in the army, 1863, by reason of wound or injury or disease contracted while serving as Private in Co. F, 12th Reg., Ky Inf in the war 1861 (?) and 1865. That she was his lawful wife during that period of his service in said war, and that she remained his lawful wife to the date of his death. That her pension was paid by the United States pension agent at Louisville, KY and that the munber of her pension certificate was ----. That she never received any other pension from the United States nor made any other application for pension. That her penion terminated because of marriage to Stephen Loveall. that said marriage took place April 5, 1889 at Jacob Mayfield. That said husband died March 6, 1901, at Boling Green, Kentucky. That she did not marry again after the death of the soldier except to Stephen Loveall named above. Claimant remained a widow since the death of Stephen Loveall. That she is without other means of support than her daily labor and actual net income not exceeding two hundred and fifty dollars per year. That her post office address is Sloan's Valley, County of Pulaski, State of Kentucky. Cynthia made her mark, furthur signed by W.G.(?), Suvin(?), and James Cummins GENERAL AFFIDAVIT (this was stamped Aug. 25, 1902) State of Kentucky, County of Pulaski, ss: In the matter of Cynthia Taylor, now Cynthia Loveall Personally came before me a clerk in and for the aforesaid County and State, Cynthia Lovall, aged 61 years, citizen of Sloan's Valley, County of Pulaski, State of Kentucky, well known to me to be reputable and entitiled to credit, and who, being duly sworn, declares in relation to aforesaid case, as follows: Claimant Cynthia N. Taylor, last Cynthia N. Loveall, states she first married Solomon Taylor. He died in the army while serving as a private in Co. F., 12th Reg. KY Volunteers. Infant claimant ??? approved at the rate of 12 dollars per month. Enrolled at the Louisville Pension Agency adn she again married Stephen loveall, April 5, 1889, married by Reverend Jacob Mayfield in the County of Pulaski, State of Kentucky. ***My note, next sentence hard to read***----Stephen died March 6, 1901 claimant has not remarried since the death of Stephen Loveall. ***There are a couple of more sentences, but I can't read them*** Cynthia N. Taylor, made her mark S.S. Lewis adn Vongie (?) Young attested to her mark A letter to the Pensions Office Co. of Pulaski State of Kentucky on this Nov 8 1911 Personally appeared before me Notart Public for the above named co. and state, Cinthiey N. Taylor who was the widow of Solomon Taylor who was a Soldier in the Civel War of 1861, belonged to the 12 Ky Vol infantry. In Feb. 1863 applied for his pension and was granted in the year of 1872 and drawed his pension until she remarried to Stephen Loveall 1888. We live together 6 years and he abandoned me and left me without any cause and has failed to fuernish me anything to subsist on and I am unable to perform manuel labor and I hereby make application to the Bureau of Pensions to reinstate me and insert my name on the Pension Rolls at $12 per month. Her Post Office is Keno, Co. of Pulaski and State of Ky. Said Stephen Loveall failed to furnish me anything to subsist on for the period of 10 years. Her mark...Cynthia N. Taylor Also personally appeared before me a notary Public and being sworn according to law, Dutton Davis and Ervin Taylor whose post offices are Keno, Pulaski Co., State of Kentucky declares as follows..that they are personally aquainted with Cinthia N. Taylor claimant 25 years and know she is the person she represents her self to be and is respectable and entitled to full credit and we are not concerned in the prosecution of the claim.
