County This Indenture is made between William Fox a clerk of said Court on behalf of Michael Hargis Orphan of Nelly Hargis of the one part, & Timothy Ruark of the other part Witnesseth that this said Michael Hargis, is honestly & industriously to serve & obey the said Ruark in all lawful commands until he shall be twenty one years old & he the said Ruark doth covenant & agree to find the said Michael a sufficiency of good clothes as also a sufficiency of good wholesome diet & all other necessaries as long as he shall serve him & to Learn him the said Michael all the common arts & misteries of the farmers Business, & to have him taught to Read write & common Arithmetic including the Rule of Three & to heal him in a humane & tender manner in all things, & at the expiration of the said Michaels service who will be 8 years old on the 17th of June next the said Ruark is to give him three pounds ten shillings & a decent new suit of clothes. In witness whereof I the said Timothy Ruark hath here unto set their hands & affixed their seals this 22nd day of March 1819 Will Fox Clk LS Timothy Ruark LS Signed Seal & Del In presence of the Court Pulaski County Kentucky Deed...FHL #0804640 Hargis to Cox Know all men by these presents that I Michael Hargis of Pulaski County Kentucky have for and in consideration of the sum of twenty nine Dollars owing by me to Allen J. Cox, and due by notes on the 29th of October next, this day bargained and sold unto him the said Allen J. Cox one Sorrel Horse colt, eleven Head of Hogs, five head of sheep, one Loom & apparatus, one Table, one Bed & Furniture and twenty three head of Gesse all of which property is now in my possession Nevertheless, If I the said Michael Hargis should well and truly pay and discharge the said notes one for $23, and the other for $6, when they become due to the ssid Allen J. Cox his heirs or assigns then the above Bill of Sale to be void: otherwise the said Allen J. Cox his heirs or assigns to have the power to give up said property or any part thereof to be levied on (or so much as may be necessary to satisfy and discharge the said notes) by the proper officer. Witness my hanbd and seal this 28th day of January 1837 Michael X Hargis Ackd AJ James Pulaski County Kentucky Deed...FHL #0804601 Hargis to Hargis Know all men by these presents that I Michael Hargis with John Hargis my Security and indebted to Washington Hargis by note the Sum of twenty Dollars due one day after date and dated the 22nd of June 1847 now to indemnify and make the said John Hargis safe I do hereby bargain transfer and sell by way of Mortgage to the said John Hargis one Cow & Calf and 2 year old Heifer ten ___ of Hogs 9 head of sheep and one black Horse colt last springs colt. the said John Hargis To Have and To Hold the Same unto him his heirs or assigns forever Subject however to the following condition (towit) should I the said Michael Hargis well & truly pay off said Debt and all costs and Interests which may accrue on the same then the above conveyance to be null and void & of no effect Else to remain in full for as a mortgage for the purpose afsd.
