Curd Somerset, Ky., August 12, 1873 Summary of Town News. The foundation wall for our new Courthouse is almost completed, and is considered a very excellent and substantial piece of work. Kindricks brick on the square is now undergoing repairs and we learn that the two rooms below will be converted into one. This change will furnish our town with another large and splendid business house. G.W. Parker is now engaged in placing a metal roof upon the new residence of W.C. Davis. Mr. parker has recently purchase the John M. Hayden property near our town, and will e'er long resume his place as a citizen of our county. We will heartily welcome him back again. Sewing Machine Agents are numerous in our county at present, some of whom are doing a good business. We also notice that several of our young men are selling by subscription some very valuable and useful books. We wish them success, as we would like to see thousands of good books sold and distributed in our county. Poll Compared. And Huffaker's majority for the Senate in our District found to be 641. A Store Robbed. On Thursday night last, the store house of Edwards & Jones, 12 miles east of Somerset, was broken into by one or more persons, and goods and money to the amount of $200 taken there from. Search warrants are in the hands of the officers, but no arrests have yet been made. In Jail. A young man by the name of Daulton was arrested a few days ago upon a Bench Warrant, for disturbing religious worship, and was placed in the jail of our county. Allen Jones. Was not the Republican candidate for the Senate as stated in last issue. He was he candidate for the Legislature without opposition, and received a good vote; and notwithstanding his Radical proclivities, we feel assured that he will make us a good representative. Church Dedicated. The new Presbyterian church at Pisgah, five miles south of Somerset, will be dedicated on the 4th Sunday in this month.
