Born July 24, 1922, in Pulaski County, she was the daughter of the late George W. and Florence A. Waddle Pitman. She was a homemaker and attended Pleasant Point Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons, Stephen G. Griffin of Summerville, S.C., and Doyle Griffin of Somerset; 11 daughters, Diana Duncan of Franklin, Ohio, Janice Denney of Mt. Vernon, Patricia Ragland of Lexington, Brenda Elliot of Stanford, Jackie Correll of Kings Mountain, Betty Tackett of Eubank, Peggy Wesley of Cincinnati, Ohio, Sharon Combs of Shelby, Montana, Anita Ball of Kings Mountain, Karen Griffin of Springfield, Mo. and Judith A. Brown of Somerset; a brother, Oscar Pittman of Roachdale, Ind.; 32 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas H. Griffin; two brothers, Estill and Mike Pitman; two sisters, Emma J. Stromstad and Bessie Haggard; two infant brothers and two infant sisters, two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Chapel of Morris and Hislope Funeral Home by Bro. Bill Rhodus. Burial will be in Good Hope Cemetery in Eubank. Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Monday at funeral home.
