It was recently transcribed from microfilm of that issue of the Signal. With these submittals, I am sharing these gleanings with the Signal's present readers. PERSONAL NEWS John D. Miller is at home for a few days. - Mrs. J. R. Cass is visiting her aunt Mrs. Nannie Albright. - Dr. H. V. Pennington was a visitor in our town yesterday. - G. T. Johnson is moving today to the house vacated by D. E. Davis. - Jack Adams went down to London Sunday afternoon as usual. - Bob Norton and four children of the Wabd section are suffering from lagrippe. - Mrs. Nannie Albright continues very sick, but better than last week. - Mrs. Fanny Adams and little Tivis Bethurum are visiting in Middlesboro. - D. Smith from Jackson County is visiting his cousin Gilbert Dailey in the West end. - Blaine Bowling, of Hyden, is spending the week with his brother "Tuck" Bowling. - Will H. Fish spent Wednesday night with his grandfather, Mr. Alvah Maret at Wildie. - W. H. Carmical is very much better and if he does not relapse will be out in a few days. - Mrs. Katie Linton, after a pleasant visit to relatives here, has returned to her home in Louisville. - Mrs. Ann Fish returned from a pleasant visit to her granddaughter Mrs. L. R. Hughes at Stanford. - D. E. Davis and family left yesterday for Nicholasville, where they will make their future home. - Lloyd Livesay went to Stanford last Saturday and had Dr. O'Bannon remove a growth on his face. - Our splendid foreman, W. T. Davis, is almost himself again and will soon be able to resume his duties. - Mr. John McLemore will leave this afternoon for Laurel County to make preparations to move his family. - H. V. Bastin and Ben Carmney were over from Lancaster stringing new wires and other telephone work. - Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Wallin spent Saturday until Monday with Mrs. Wallin's parents, Dr. and Mrs. S. E. Davis. - Benjamin Adkins, of Williamsburg, was here Sunday to see one of our prettiest and most poplar young ladies. - Mrs. White, of Stanford, who has been here under treatment for cancer, has returned to her home much improved. - Dr. E. J. Brown was up from Stanford Sunday to see Mrs. Nannie Albright, in consultation with Dr. A. G. Lovell. - Miss Ida Mae Adams was thrown from a buggy a few days since, but fortunately escaped without any serious injury. - Dr. P. Benton was up from Brodhead Tuesday, talking Bryan more than ever. Doctor says the Nebraskan is a sure winner this time. - George D. French, a Rockcastle boy holding a good position with the L & N at Etawah, Tenn., was with his parents near Livingston Sunday. - Engineer John R. Carter and daughter of Livingston were passengers on Tuesday's train enroute to Nashville where she will enter school. - Ed Gentry entered the Louisville law school Tuesday. Ed is one of Rockcastle's finest young men and we expect to hear big things from him some day. - W. H. Owens, the Spiro merchant, will finish his school near Ottawa. - Dr. W. A. Jones writes from Union City that he is meeting with success. - Capt. W. R. Dillion was a passenger on Wednesday's train enroute to Louisville. - Dr. and Mrs. R. W. Dyche spent Saturday and Sunday with relatives in London. - Mr. Benton Ballard was over from Orlando Thursday having some dental work done. - Miss Lee, of Danville, the high school teacher in the Brown Memorial school, arrived Sunday. - Oscar Bryant who has been operating for the Q & C at Georgetown is at home for a day or so. - Cashier M. B. Salin returned from Owenton where he was called about ten days ago on account of the serious illness of his mother, who died Monday. We extend to Mr. Salin our deepest sympathy in his hour of bereavement. LIVINGSTON NEWS Mrs. Jesse Taylor is visiting friends in Corbin. - Mrs. Celia Turpin, of Brodhead. is the guest of her sister, Mrs. James Hall. - Mrs. Tip Langford, of Wildie, is visiting relatives here. - Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Cox, of Mt Vernon have been the guests of Dr. and Mrs. W. J. Childress. - Mr. Willie Tankersley who has been quit sick at the Mullins hotel is better. - Rev. A. J. Pike was in town Monday. - W. J. Dooly was here from Mullins Station first of the week. - Mrs. J. H. Browning and children are visiting in Crab Orchard. - Shannon McKinney, of Lafollette, Tenn., was here between trains Monday. - Lum Chewing visited home folks here last week. - Mesdames Sofa and Maggie Dickerson are visiting in Crab Orchard. - J. A. Oliver is building an addition to his house on Main Street. - Mrs. Kittie Neal is visiting her uncle, W. M. Poynter at Mt Vernon. - Mrs. Sue Mullins is having some concrete work done in front of her cottages on High Street. - Jno. Cummins has moved here from Mt Vernon. - A. Pennington has bought the old storehouse on Main Street recently used as a drug store. He will remodel and use it for a dwelling house. - Mrs. J. E. Woodall will leave in a few days for Louisville to buy her stock of fall and winter millinery goods. - Miss Bessie Mullins came down from Mt Vernon Tuesday to attend the funeral of her uncle Steve Owens. - Miss Ella Stanley still continues quite sick. - Mr. and Mrs. Houston McFerron spent Sunday with their daughter, Mrs. W. J. Childress. - Steve Owens who was shot and killed at Ely Mines was brought here for burial Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Dave Griffin and daughter, Miss Annie came out from Jellico to attend the funeral. - Dispatcher Quiggins has been quite sick for a few days. - Jno. Mullins has sold all his household goods and rented his house to a Mr. Kirkland. - Livingston is still booming, every house in town is occupied and more in demand. BRODHEAD NEWS John Robins took charge of the post office Thursday being appointed to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Capt. A. H. Evans. - E. R. Gentry left Monday morning for Louisville where he will enter the law department of The University of Louisville. - Mrs. M. S. Durham has moved from the Frith Hotel to the Forbes property on Silver Street. - D. R. Rambo has taken charge of the Frith Hotel. - M. B. Bowling has returned from a trip to Hamilton, Ohio. - J. J. Albright and Mont Roberts are at home for a few days from Livermore, Ky. - Your writer spent last Saturday night at the hospitable home of Mr. and Mrs. Allen Hiatt in the Hiatt neighborhood. - Don't forget the ball game Saturday between Hiatt and the Brodhead 2nd team. Game called at 2:30 p.m. - J. W. Hutcheson is in Somerset this week on business. - Mr. and Mrs. J. Thos. Cherry are in Louisville this week attending the horse show. - Mrs. Katie Linton, of Louisville, visited Mr. and Mrs. John Flynn from Saturday until Monday. - H. H. Wallen of Oakdale, Tenn., is here for a few days. - John Cress, of Preachersville, was here Wednesday buying all kinds of livestock. - Rev. A. J. Pike was in Harrison County this week. - QUAIL NEWS Rev. John Elder filled his regular appointment at Providence Sunday. - The farmers of this section are almost through with corn. Wheat sowing will soon be the order of the day. - Miss Addie Davis continues about the same. - Ebert Elder and Morris Taylor spent Sunday with some of the fair sex in Pulaski County. They are both wearing a smile from ear to ear. - The little frost that came Monday night did but little damage. - Eugene Todd returned to Romney, Indiana Monday. - There will be services at Bethel Sunday conducted by the Rev. R. E. Todd. - Jacob Elder and Wm. Owens are teaching a singing school at Watts Chapel near Crab Orchard. LEVEL GREEN NEWS Mr. Wm. F. Debord is adding beauty to our little hamlet by the erection of a two story dwelling. - Our citizens feel delighted over the long sought for and much needed rain which began falling Sunday night. Pasture land was dry enough to burn and farmers could not prepare wheat land. - As there was no letter from this place last week, we were unable to report the death of Miss Francis Todd, which occurred Saturday evening Sept the 19th after an illness, from which she was bedfast for nineteen years. - Mrs. D. R. Gentry and son, Haskill, spent Sunday last with Mrs. J. J.
