BRODHEAD NEWS Woodyard Owens has returned home from Louisville where he has been for the past two months. - R. G. Wilmott has returned to Pine Knot after being home for a few days. - Miss Beulah Wallen of Cedar Creek and Miss Bobbie Davis of Mt Vernon are visiting Mrs. Jennie Wallen on Maple Ave. - Thos. W. Evans of Lebanon Junction is at home for a few days. - Mrs. G. W. Brooks of Knoxville, Tenn. is the guest of her mother Mrs. M. E Wilmott on West Main street. - A. J. Leece of Knoxville spent Sunday with his wife here. - Clarence Shaffer and wife of Louisville are visiting Mrs. Shaffer's Parents Mrs. Jno. Fuget. - Emery Albright received a very painful injury Thursday by sticking a rusty nail in his foot. - S. Barbee McAfee of Pine Knot was here Tuesday and Wednesday to see Cashier Hutcheson. - Mrs. Larkin Hicks is in Louisville visiting her son Robert. - Rev. Masters preached several very interesting discourses at the Christian church later part of last week. - Jno. Robins was in Stanford last Monday. - Dr. E. J. Brown of Stanford was here Wednesday to see J. L. Robbins, who is very ill with a complication of diseases. - C. L. Renaker of Glenco spent a few days in our city. - The Skating Club is entertaining large crowds nightly at the Club Room. -- A. C. McClary has returned from Summersville, where he has been acting Cashier of the Farmers Bank during Cashier Smith's absence. - E. R. Gentry and sister of Spiro attended the skating rink last Tuesday night. - Mr. W. E. sprawl and children are visiting Mrs. Sprawls parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. Francisco. - Mrs. L. B. Hilton of Pine Hill is spending a few days with her mother Mrs. J. R. Cass. LIVINGSTON NEWS Miss Sallie Cook has returned to her home in Jellico after a very pleasant visit with Miss Lida Cook of this place, and Mrs. G.M. Ballard, of Mt Vernon. - The little children of Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Westerfield have the measles, but are convalescent at this time. - Mr. and Mrs. Logan Salyers and little daughter, Hazel of Corbin, have been spending a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Mart Hicks. - Mrs. Mary Payne, of Pittsburg, is spending a few days with her mother, Mrs. Mahala Carson, who is quite sick. - Mrs. Alfred Owens spent Saturday until Monday with her daughter, Mrs. Will Sams, at Gauley. - Miss Sarah Alcorn has a very severe case of measles. - Will Graves has recovered after a severe case of fever. - Rev. Campbell , of Clay City, will fill his regular appointment at the Christian Church Saturday and Sunday. -- Mr. and Mrs. Will Fisher, of Louisville, are the guests of Mesdames George Pope and W. W. Wright. - Dick Hamilton is here on a fishing and courting expedition. - Mrs. Harry Jenkins is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Hayes for a few weeks. - Chas. Rice and Arthur Botner, of Lebanon Junction, were in town Sunday on the same business. - Miss Eva Baugh, of Mershon's Xroods, is visiting Mrs. Henry Browning. - Mrs. W. W. Wright has been quite sick but is convalescent. - The little children of Mrs. Henry Browning have the measles. - Mesdames W. W. Wright and Will Fisher will visit Mrs. Dave Downs at Corbin Sunday. - Mrs. John Smith is quite sick at this time. - Miss Lida Cook will lead the prayer meeting at the Christian church next Wednesday evening. - Will Rice was here the first of the week on a big fishing trip. - Robert Payne, while trying to board a train at Hazel Patch, was caught by a wheel in some way and his foot was completely torn off. - A Mr. Drew was killed in Indiana. He was completely torn to pieces. His remains were brought here to his widowed mother without a moments notice. He was her only son. - Henry Browning is convalescent at this writing. - Miss Nellie McFerron was spending a few days with her sisters, Mrs. W. J. Childress and Miss Georgia McFerron, the first of the week. - Mrs. Lathan has been quite sick for some time. - Mrs. Mary Cummins is spending a few days with her sisters at Mt Verrnon. PERSONAL NEWS DR. E. J. Brown was here Wednesday. - Cashier W. L. Richards continues very sick. - R. B. Sams, of Livingston, was here yesterday. - Miss Bessie French visited relatives here Monday. - Miss Ann Branaman is visiting Mrs. Sue Butner. - Chas. Arnold von Eichen is expected to arrive today. - The baby of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Ferguson is very sick. - John Lear, the poplar grocery drummer, was here yesterday. - R. M. Frazier, of Indianapolis, visited relatives here this week. - Born to the wife of W. A. Cox on Friday night a fine baby girl. - B. F. Martin, of Rowland, spent a few days here this week. - Morris Brown was down from East Bernstadt Thursday for the day. - Dr. D. McDonald was here Tuesday in the interest of the school. - Mrs. Jane Bloomer is spending a few days with her sister, Mrs. Matilda Houk. - Miss Bessie Sparks has been very sick this week. She is better at this time. - Mrs. Anna Miller, of Washington, came to attend the burial of Mr. M. J. Miller. - Mrs. G. S. Hiatt will go to Louisville Monday to lay in her summer millinery. - Mrs. D. F. Meyers, of Williamsburg, was here to attend the burial of Mr. M. J. Miller. - J. P. Graham is on the sick list. - Mrs. Ellen Mahaffey spent Monday and Tuesday with friends here. - Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Davis and son, Chas. L. spent Saturday until Monday with relatives in Lexington. - Conductor Charlie Henderson and family are with homefolks for a few days. Charley's run is between Corbin and Ettawah. - Mrs. Tom Brannaman and Miss Ella Adams, of the Wildie section, were here Wednesday visiting friends and doing some shopping. - G. T. Johnson has been making some very much needed improvements in his store, by having the rear shelved off for handling of his groceries. - Luther Cummins, head sawyer for Turner, Day and Woolsworth Handle Co., at Kuttawa, Ky., came home Monday night. He will probably go to Bluffton, Ind., to take charge of a mill there. - Judge L. W. Bethurum and Sheriff R. L. McFerron were in Frankfort yesterday to appear before the State Board of Equalization, to get a release of the raise made on Rockcastle by the board. - Dr. Weaver, of Richmond preached two excellent sermons at the Presbyterian church Sunday. Mt. Vernon people will be glad to know that Dr. weaver will be here once a month hereafter. - John Renner, a former Rockcastle boy who has been making his home in Missouri for several years, but recently moved to New Mexico, writes that he lost his wife a few days ago. He has been living in New Mexico only a few weeks. - Hon. Harvey Helm, of Stanford, Congressman from the Eighth Congressional district, was in town shaking hands and mingling among his friends. Mr. Helms is looking in fine form and appears every inch a Congressman. While here he cast 100 votes for each of our young ladies in our Jamestown contest. Richmond Register. -- J. G. Frith was up from Brodhead yesterday. - R. B. Mullins has been a very sick man this week. - Mrs. Barnes is visiting her daughter, Mrs. D. B. Southard. - Judge R. C. Warren returned Saturday from a visit to his son, Mr. A. M. Warren at Mobile, Ala., and daughters Misses Nell and Josephine Warren, at Cave Spring, Ga. He was gone two weeks and says he greatly enjoyed his trip. - OTTAWA NEWS Most of the farmers of this section are busy planting corn. - Mrs. Jno. Denny visited relatives in Lincoln county Wednesday and Thursday. - J. M. Craig, of Quail, spent Thursday night with Tart Proctor and family at this place. - Mr. Tom Rice, of Lincoln county, visited relatives here Thursday. - Measles are still making the rounds in this vicinity. The last cases reported are James W. Brown and Mrs. Sarah Long's children, Cecil and Lela. - John Sowder was in Brodhead Thursday on business. - Miss Ella Hayes of Lincoln county visited relatives here Thursday. - George Ping was in Brodhead Thursday on business. - Mr. Barnett, of Harrodsburg, Ky., visited friends here last week. - Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Delaney, of near Krueger, visited J. J. Brown and family Saturday and Sunday. - Mr. and Mrs. Tom Cox and family spent Saturday and Sunday with Hiram Thompson and family of this section. - Messrs. Alex Proctor and Emmitt Logsdon, of the Quail community, were in this section Saturday. - Pearlie Ping has been visiting relatives near Poplar Grove. - S. L. Cummins, of near Krueger, visited his brother-in-law, J. J. Brown who is a very sick with the measles. - Tart Proctor visited Jesse W. Brown and family Sunday. - Charlie Brown attended Sunday school at Providence Sunday. - J. B. Sutton and family spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Rogers and family of Small. -- Amos Brown and family of near here visited relatives here Sunday. - Misses Jalia and Luna Brown visited their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Tart Proctor Saturday night. - J. T. Brown and family visited relatives and friends in this section Sunday. - Charlie Sowder spent Sunday with Jesse W. Brown and family of this section. - S. T. Proctor came home from Brodhead Saturday where he has been engaged in carpentry work for the past week. Mrs. Tart Proctor is in very poor health at this time. - Miss Minnie Gentry visited friends in this section Saturday. - J. J.
