Cook was here Monday from Bell county. -- Charlie McKensie is visiting relatives in Stanford. -- Mrs. J. F. Griffin is with relatives near Gum Sulphur. -- R. M. Johnson, who has been very sick for some time is better. -- Mrs. H. L. Tate is visiting relatives in Brodhead and Crab Orchard. -- W. M. Baker, of Altanta, Monday., is here to see his father, H. H. Baker. -- Judge J. B. Fish, of Williamsburg, was here Wednesday on business. -- Miss Lillie Thompson returned Sunday to her home in Crab Orchard. -- David Bryant is making considerable improvements on his residence. -- Charley Johnson after an illness of several days is able to be out again. -- Editor E. C. Walton, of the Interior Journal was here a short while Tuesday . -- Burdette McKensie is learning telegraphy under Agent J. A. Landrum. -- A. B. Furnish is suffering from a burned hand caused by an explosion of a lamp. -- J. D. Cheek, of Lexington, was here Wednesday to see one of our young ladies. -- Judge Morrow and Hon. B. J. Bethurum are the visiting attorneys this court. -- Mrs. J.W. Nesbitt, of Pennington Gap, Va., spent several days here this week. -- George Taylor , of near Buckeye, is very sick. Mr Taylor has been in bad heqalth for some time. -- WE are glad to be able to report A. Renner, who has been so very sick for several days, improving. -- Mrs. W. F. Champ, of Paint Lick, was the guest of her sister, Mrs S. N. Davis, for a few days. -- Mr. and Mrs. Rome Adams and daughter, Miss Cora, spent Saturday and Sunday with relatives here. -- Harve Mink has moved from Jackson county bacj to his old home in the Southern part of the county. -- Mrs. Lawrence, widow of the late Dr. Joe Lawrence, of Hyden, Ky., is visiting the family of J. J. Lawrence. -- Mrs. A. W. Soward has returned to her home in Barbourville after a visit of several days to her mother, Mrs. J. C. Carmical. -- Miss Francis Sparks, who is attending the Conservatory of Music at Cincinnati, Ohio, will arrive Saturday to spend the Christmas holidays with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Sparks. Ballard paid out to the teachers last Saturday over $5000. -- Marshal Smith has begun the foundation for his new store house. -- Do you ever think of that subscription that is unpaid? Meyers, dentist, will be at Brodhead on Monday afternoon and Tuesday afternoon each week. -- Rev. J. Barnes has just closed a series of meetings at Hope Well 5 miles South of Mt Vernon, with 32 additions, 21 by experience and baptism and 11 by restoration with good attendance and nice behavior. -- There will be a Christmas cantata and Christmas tree at Brodhead, Ky Christmas eve night, also Xmas night. The members of the Brodhead Baptist School will play "Fruits of the Wine Cup." A temperance play that shows the evils of intempance. Everybody cordially invited.
