BRODHEAD NEWS Jack McCall, of Tennessee, visited his mother, Aunt Jude Chesnut, and sister Mrs. Fullen Francisco first of the week. - Woodyard Owens has returned to his work at Lebanon Junction. - The "Progressive Bible Club" was organized at the Baptist church and meets every Thursday at 7:00 P.M. All denominations are invited to take part. - Dr. Percy Benton and daughter, Miss Willie, have returned from a weeks stay in Mt Sterling. - Rev. A. J. Pike and son, Ben are visiting in Pendleton County this week. - John Robins has added a book department to his drug store and can now furnish you with all kinds of reading matter. - Miss Resa Pike entered Sue Bennet Memorial School at London Monday. - Miss Cora Sigmon has returned from a ten day's stay in Corbin and Jellico. - Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Hutcheson were in Cincinnati first of the week shopping. - Misses Clyde Watson and Blanche Crawford have returned to Mt Vernon where they are attending school. - Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Shaffer, of Louisville, are visiting relatives and friends for a few days. - Horace Benton has returned to Lebanon Junction after being at home for several days with the grip. - Ed Owens has returned to Louisville where he holds a fine position with the Electric Car Company. - J. E. Storms has returned to Keavy after spending several days with his wife here. - Mr. and Mrs. Smith are visiting in the Hiatt neighborhood this week. OTTAWA NEWS Rev. Jas. Cummins closed a very successful singing school at Union Ridge Friday with a large crowd in attendance. - Charlie Sowder went to Preachersville Friday on business. - Morris Proctor of Quail was up to see our fair sex Friday. - Tart Proctor bought of Charlie Sowder a hog for $6.00. - Laswell and Son are contemplating erecting a flour mill in the bear future. - Chicken Pox is raging in this community. - Mrs. George White still continues very low with consumption. - Miss Jalia Proctor spent Tuesday night with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Tart Proctor. - Gov. Elijah Wallen is still on the matrimonial list. QUAIL NEWS E. A. Herrin continues about the same. - Eld. Martin Owens is still in a very critical condition. - Wm. Scott has been spending a few days with his son, Henry of Somerset. - Little Verna Lewis has been very sick, but is better at this time. - Zack Proctor of Wildie has been spending a few days with his brother, Dave Proctor near this place. - Walker and Wm. Logan are on the sick list. - Mrs. Coleman and daughter of Cincinnati are visiting her son Jamie Lewis who has been very sick. - Mrs. Jemina Todd has returned to her home in Indiana after a months stay with her father, Eld. Martin Owens. - Elbert Elder of Brodhead called on one of our fair sex Sunday. - Edward Taylor is numbered among the sick. - Aunt Louisa Reynolds remains about as usual. ORLANDO NEWS Mrs. Bettie Mason and little grandson, Emery Ball, are visiting in Corbin this week. - J. M. Laswell is at Barbourville where he has a position as R. R. Operator. - Mrs. Rhoda Evans and little daughter are confined with measles. - Uncle Marvel Coffey suffered a stroke of paralysis a few days ago and remains in a very serious condition. - Mr. Tom Hickey has gone to Laurel County in search of a wife or so we were informed. -- Arthur Proctor who has had the measles is convalescent. - Mrs. Susan Clifford of Hummel is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Ball of this place. - Dr. and Mrs. W. D. Laswell were in Mt Vernon Tuesday having dental work done. - Charlie Anglin, the five year old child of Stephen Anglin, died Monday at one o'clock A. M. of tetanus. We extend to the bereaved parents our heartfelt sympathy. - James Brooks and J. W. Chasteen were in Mt Vernon Tuesday. PERSONAL NEWS S. W. Davis was in Louisville Monday. - Mrs. J. F. Griffin has been very sick for a few days. - Atty. John W. Brown was in Louisville Wednesday . - Miss Mat Williams is visiting relatives in Somerset. - Henry Davis of the Wildie section has a very sick child. - Conn Brown is taking a few days sojourn in the south. - Dr. A. G. Lovell is able to be out after a ten days illness. - Mrs. M. B. Salin spent a few days this week in Cincinnati. - Mrs. L. R. Hughes is spending a few days with homefolks here. - Judge L. W. Bethurum was in Frankfort several days this week. - John Prewitt, the Hazel Patch lumber dealer, was here Saturday. - E. B. and Claude Cox are in Louisville buying a line of furniture for the later. - Miss Beulah Wallen, of near Stanford, is the guest of Miss Roberta Davis. - Mrs. Fanny Adams is in Louisville under treatment of her brother, Dr. John M. Williams. - Miss Bessie Miller was reported very sick yesterday and it is feared that she is suffering from another attach of pneumonia. - The many friends of Dr. Redd, of Crab Orchard, will regret to learn that his condition is gradually becoming more serious. - R. B. Mullins received word a few days since that his daughter, Miss Bessie, who is in Colorado, is very sick. - Mrs. Richard Early of the Hiatt neighborhood who has been suffering from nervous trouble for several months is rapidly recovering. - George W. Baker has resigned his position with W. J. Sparks and will go on the road for a Louisville clothing house. He was in Louisville Monday to get his samples. - C. A. Davis, who was hurt last Sunday week, by a door on a refrigerator car was able to come home Monday. Charley shows that he suffered a pretty serious blow. - Mr. and Mrs. Ramus, who spent several weeks here last year with Mrs. Friedrich and Mrs. Von Eichen, spent from Thursday until Monday with Atty. and Mrs. C. C. Williams. - Nelse Griffin has sold his farm near Pine Hill to a Mr. Grubb, of Tennessee, and has purchased D. C. Pullins' farm near Conway. Mr. Griffin will move to his new home in a short time. - F. L. Thompson, Jr. left yesterday for Louisville to take a position with the Louisville Grocery Company. "Clint" as he is known among the boys is a splendid young man and we certainly hope that he will make good in his new undertaking. LIVINGSTON NEWS Edd Quinn and wife are visiting Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Hayes. - Mr. and Mrs. James Neal of Ford are visiting relatives here. - George Mullins, who has been sick for sometime, we are glad to say is improving. - Henry Burton is going to move in the Lechleiter house better known as the Coffey house and the hotel is for rent. - Mrs. Susie Mullins has sold the lot she recently purchased from F. L. Thompson to H. L. Delph for $150. - John Mullins is out from Lafollette visiting friends and relatives. - P. W. Durbin has bought Bullock's barber shop and will run a shop here. Mr. Bullock will locate in Mt Vernon . - Mrs. Susie Hicks still continues very sick. - Miss Tillie Carter, from Nashville, Tenn., is visiting her uncle J. R. Carter. - Lillian Carter fell and sprained her ankle at skating rink Tuesday night. She is getting along very well at this time. - Livingston is on the long looked for boom. There are two new crews here from Paris and lots of people looking for houses. Mrs. Sue Mullins is wishing she owned a dozen more houses as she has calls for houses on every side. - Chas. Rice, Jr. has a new interest in the skating rink. - Mrs. Cora White is Postmistress this week. - The Christian people reorganized their Christian Endeavor last Sunday evening with Brother H. D. MaGee President, W. W. Wright Vice-President, Mrs. J. R. Carter Secretary, J, R. Carter Treasurer, Mrs. Ada Fishback Organist. Had 15 active members and 12 social members. - Misses Lizzie and Ann Fishback are going to school at Lexington. - The baptizing at the Baptist Church will take place next Sunday evening. - There are about 28 candidates. - The meeting at the Baptist Church closed last Sunday night. They had a splendid meeting. - The Christians built up in their good work. Bro. McFarland went to Jellico, Tenn. Sunday night. - Mrs. J. E. Singleton is very sick at this writing. - J. T.
