WILDIE NEWS Stella Bonar has typhoid fever. -- W. H. Jones went to Mt Vernon on business Tuesday. -- Arthur Griffith came down from Ford Tuesday to visit relatives. -- Abe Chestnut was down from Berea first of the week.-- J, H, Branaman made a flying trip to Berea Tuesday. -- John Egbert Fish and wife have returned to their home in western Texas. -- Miss Nyrtle Jackson was down from Richmond first of the week visiting relatives. -- T. A. Stewart came in from Chicago last week. -- Harvesting oats and cutting meadows is the order of the day in this nick of the woods. -- Tom Branaman is all smiles now just because there is another big girl at his house. (According to my Branaman genealogy information that big girl was Fabra Branaman who was born June 30, 1906 and died October 15, 1995). -- There were some timber buyers from Boston, Mass., here the first of the week looking over the fine timber of Gus Stewart. -- W. M. Hayes has bought the property of G. T. Johnson. Price $2000, possession to be given first of October. -- The firm of Hayes and Wood will dissolve their partnership the first of October, Hayes is going to the Johnson property with Wood remaining at the old stand. -- Mrs. Mary Brown and daughter and Miss Edna Seymour of Chicago were here the first of the week visiting relatives.-- A couple of young ladies kidnapped T. A. Stewart Tuesday and took him away on the train. We understand that Gus has put out a reward of thirty-cents for his safe and sound return. -- J. H. Hayes had a paralytic stroke Wednesday morning, his whole right side being paralyzed. -- J. H. Sigmon died Tuesday and was buried in the family grave yard. Preceding the above Wildie news was a line drawing of G. T. Johnson. The caption under the drawing reads: G. T. Johnson who is soon to become a citizen of Mt Vernon. Mr. Johnson has sold his store room and residence at Wildie to W. M. Hayes, and in turn has purchased the lot on which Chas. Davis' drug store was burned, and was here Wednesday to close the deal and let a contract for the erection of a store room, which will be a two-story concrete structure. He has also bought the residence of Judge L. W. Bethurum; transfer of which will be made Wednesday. Mr. Johnson is a splendid business man and the kind of a citizen every town needs. We gladly welcome him into our midst. BRODHEAD NEWS Mrs. L. B. Hilton, of Pine Hill is visiting her mother, Mrs. J. R. Cass. -- Miss Frances Forbes of Level Green, is the charming visitor of Miss Ethel Hilton, -- Miss Clyde V. Wilmont visited Miss Lillie Fuget, at Hiatt. First of the week. -- E. E. Snyder spent last Tuesday night at the Albright Hotel. -- Chas. Hurt and Barbee McAfee are on the sick list. -- Born to the wives of W. C. Swinford, and E. B. Newland two fine daughters. -- R. G. Wilmont has returned from a business trip to Louisville. -- The Fair! Don't forget it. Aug. 15, 16 and 17. -- Clarence Miller is numbered among the sick in our city. -- John Borders, aged 86 passed to the great beyond Tuesday afternoon at 5:20 O'clock.. He was the only charter member of the Brodhead lodge No. 566 F. & A. M. Living at the time of his death. He was the oldest Mason in the county, having been a mason 53 years ago in France. His family certainly have our heartfelt sympathy. -- I have just learned that there was a party at Mrs. A. V. Smith's last Tuesday night and all present report a very enjoyable evening. -- Miss Jewel Francisco has returned from a months visit with her sister Mrs. W. E. Sproule at Paris. -- Mr. J. G. Frith has sold his farm in the Hiatt community. The price paid was $2000. -- Ora Frith the traveling salesman spent last Sunday with his parents. -- Oscar Spoonamore (Oscar was my grandmother's (Mrs. Ellen Spoonamore Lawrence) brother) made a flying trip to Lebanon last Monday morning. -- Clark's circus has come and gone. It was the best circus to ever show in Brodhead. -- A. C. Kidwell was up from Lebanon Junction taking in the show.-- Mrs. J. W. Newland of Lebanon Junction is visiting friends and relatives here. -- Oscar Spoonamore has resigned his position with the L & N R. R. And will enter the restaurant business in Corbin. Heres luck to you "Spooney." -- Miss Elizabeth Tharp has returned from a pleasant trip to Lebanon Junction the guest of Miss Flora Whitehouse. -- Mrs. W. K. Shugars is visiting her mother, Mrs. K. L. Tanner, at McKinney.-- G. S. Durham was in Liberty Monday. -- Mrs. Ida Miller has returned to her home in Oklahoma, Territory after spending a month with her mother, Mrs. Bettie Tharp. -- Miss Lyday Hilton is visiting her sister, Mrs. D. H. Bastin, at Lancaster. -- Walter G.
