Mullins was here this week on business. - J. A. Oliver has returned after spending a week in Knoxville, Tenn., buying fall goods. He also visited relatives and friends in North Carolina. - J. A. Mullins accompanied his brother, W. C., to his home in LaFollette, Tenn., where he will spend a few weeks. - Among those attending the Baptist Association from Livingston are Mesdames Geo. Cook, James Anderson, Bert Whitehead, J. E. Singleton, Dr. and Mrs. Childress, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Woodall and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Drummonds, Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Davis and Miss Susie Kirby, also Rev. Briscoe, of Mt Vernon and Mrs. G. E. Painter, Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Albright and little daughter, and Rev. A. J. Pike from Brodhead. - Dock Oliver and wife accompanied by their mother, Mrs. George McClure, were here from Lebanon Junction last week visiting Mrs. J. A. Oliver; they were also looking them out a home. - Mr. Joe Stanley is on the sick list this week. - Mrs. Ann Owens, familiarly known as Aunt Ann, is visiting her grandson, Eugene Mullins, at Mt Vernon, who is quite sick. - Mrs. Eva Riggles is quite sick at this writing and is not expected to live. - Mrs. Susie Hicks is very low with consumption. - Mr. J. T. Chewning is in Mt Vernon on business. - Mrs. Lela Shelton is spending this week with her sister, Mrs. Joe Dickerson. - L. H. Davis is in Cincinnati buying goods. - Mrs. J. B. Hayes is visiting her many relatives and friends near Mt Vernon and Brodhead. - Ed Mullins is visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cal Mullins. - Mrs. J. H. Browning returned Sunday from a pleasant visit with her mother, Mrs. Kate Magee at Crab Orchard. - Mrs. Arthur Bourne is spending the week with her husband. Her school at Parksville was closed for a week on account of measles. - Mrs. Lou Quinn and daughter, Miss Bessie, and niece, Miss Beulah, of Paris are here visiting relatives and friends. - Rev. R. D. Harding and charming wife, of Dayton, Ky., were here Monday, and although they were here only a few short hours, they made many friends and the voice of the whole town, if heard, would be sung out in tones so loud that a listening ear could easily hear the words. "Come back again and stay longer." - Mrs. Harry Jenkins has returned after a short visit with her sister, Mrs. Ed Quinn, of Paris. - The Jr. O. U. A. M. will present the "Red Hill" school with a bible and will hoist a flag. A large crowd will be there and dinner will be served on the grounds. Any one from town is invited to attend and the only charges will be, You furnish your own transportation and a basket full of good things to eat for yourselves and the writer, don't forget the latter. - Misses Grace and Pearl Fields returned Sunday after a pleasant week with their grandma, Mrs. Henry Rice. - Egbert Hayes, counselor for the Jr. O. U. A. M. lodge here, is attending the National convention at Middlesboro as the representative from the Livingston Council No. 167. - Wedding bells are ringing with deafening sounds as there will be a double wedding in the near future. - Mr. and Mrs. Clyde H. White left Sunday night for their new home in Tucson , Arizona. - Harry OrnDorff is visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Orndorff, and sisters, Mrs. J. C. Hocker and Mrs. Mary Hagan. - Purd Martin was here Sunday calling on a pretty young lady. - The presentation of the Bible and hoisting of the flag by the Jr. O. U. A. M.'s here Monday was a grand success. Rev. R. D. Harding. gave an excellent lecture on the aims and object of this grand order. - Rev. Harding also preached an exceedingly able sermon at the Christian church Monday evening to about 200 people. - T. M. Dees has purchased the lot , store house and dwelling on Main street from J. C. Hocker for $950. - Dr. W. J. Childress has purchased the magnificent home on Main street from Dr. Cooper for $1500. - We are glad to see John Quinn back home again. Mr. and Mrs. Quinn was a very sick man a year ago, and some of the best physicians in Covington and Cincinnati pronounced him being in the last stages of consumption, but advised him to change climate. He did so and since has been to New Mexico, Colorado and Arizona and a number of other places but each time was advised to go further, and as a last resort was sent to Blue Ridge, Ga., and while on his way was stricken down in Atlanta. His relatives were telegraphed to come after him that he could not live much longer. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Quinn, his brother, from Paris went after him and brought him home to his mother here where he is rapidly improving and gaining flesh every day and now is able to walk to town every day. All this is said to show that Livingston is in the way of a health resort. QUAIL NEWS W. M. Owens is on the sick list. - Mrs. George Parsons of Crawfordsville, Ind., is visiting relatives in these parts. - Jackson Scott and Melvin Owens were in Mt Vernon on Monday. - Mrs. Mary E. Herrin and son, Issac, have been visiting her daughter, Mrs. D. M. Preston, of Cincinnati. - The protracted meeting at Bethel is progressing nicely. - Errine Herrin is doing some carpenter work at Brodhead. - Jacob Elder, of Brodhead, was in this section Tuesday. - H. G. Sutton, our hustling merchant at this place is doing a splendid business. ROBINETT NEWS Rev. Clause will preach at Oak Grove the Fourth Sunday. - W. R. Allen, of Cincinnati, is visiting homefolks this week. - Miss Linda Ballard will leave Saturday for Lexingtom to visit for a few days. She will go from there to Louisville to attend the fair. - Miss Nannie Coyle, of Lexington, is visiting her aunt, Mrs. Bettie Miller. - Mr. and Mrs. Gather Filbeck were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Cam Mullins at Red Hill Sunday. - John M. Mullins was here first of the week on business. - Misses Bessie and Lona Lakes were the guests of Misses Linda and Nell Ballard Monday. - We are sorry to hear that D. G. Clark has typhoid fever. - Tom and Willie Campbell are in Clay county this week on business. - Miss Effie Drew visited Miss Cleo Campbell Sunday. - Our Sunday school is progressing nicely. - Robert Allen is on the sick list. - We are glad to learn that Miss Aura Lakes is better. - Our school here is progressing nicely with Miss Linda Ballard as teacher. - Mr. and Mrs. Henry Ballard are in Mt Vernon this week visiting relatives. - Eugene Rose lost a fine mule about a week ago. - Corn crops look well in this part of the country. - Miss Nell Ballard, who has been visiting friends and relatives in Mt Vernon, has returned home and reports Mrs. G. M. Ballad much improved. - Madam Rumor says there will be a wedding here soon. - Bruce Powell was in McKee Monday on business. - Miss Ella Lakes was visiting home folks at Berea Saturday and Sunday. - A large crowd attended church at Union Sunday. - We are sorry to say that Mrs. Jim Mullins is no better. - Robert Allen, who is running an automobile for the Ice Delivery Co., of Cincinnati was visiting home folks last week. He returned to Cincinnati Tuesday accompanied by his sister, Miss. Margarite, who will spend two weeks in Cincinnati and Covington. MARETBURG NEWS Mr. and Mrs. Dock Chandler and wife, of Bromo, are visiting Mr. and Mrs. Sam Chandler and family. - Mr. and Mrs. Robert Dodd and sister, Lillie returned from a two weeks stay at Green Hill, where Mr. Dodd has been conducting a singing school. Mr. and Mrs. S. H. Martin is having a dwelling house erected just North of Maretburg. - Miss Jalia Reynolds who is teaching in the country spent Saturday and Sunday with home folks. - School at this place is progressing nicely with Prof. S. E. Chandler as teacher. - Mr. and Mrs. E. Griffin, wife and little son, Rex, also T. M. Griffin, of Corbin visited relatives here first of the week. They were enroute to St. Louis, Mo. and Wichita, Kan. - Mr. and Mrs. G. F. Reynolds and little son, Cecil, of Corbin, are the guests of Mrs. Rebecca Reynolds. - Mrs. W. E. Perkins and children, Sam and Bird, of Crab Orchard, were visiting Mrs. Reynolds last week. - Mrs. Ella Roberts spent Sunday with her sister, Mrs. R. E. Dodd. - Mr. S. H. Martin and wife spent the day Saturday with their daughter, Mrs. L. E. Houk. - Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Taylor, of Livingston, visited their parents at this place. BRODHEAD NEWS Mrs. W. K. Shugars and son have returned home from a two weeks visit to McKinney and Somerset. - Chas. Pike is at home laid up with a broken arm which was done at Ettawah, Tenn. while skating. - Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Albright and daughter, Miss Hazel, attended the Baptist Association meeting at Gauly this week. - Miss Rosa Pike and G. M. Frith left Monday for Berea where they will enter school. - Misses Bettie Hicks and Eliza Pike and Messrs. B. E. Albright and C. R. Pike are visiting in Livingston this week. - H. H. Hutcheson has returned from Somerset, Ky., where he organized a Band and Trust Co. - C. H. Frith was in Louisville Wednesday on business. - J. R. Karsner of Owenton, Ky., was here Tuesday to see Cashier J. W. Hutcheson. - DEATH Brodhead was a scene of sadness Tuesday morning when it was announced that Miss Sallie Evans had died at 4:30 A. M. She took seriously ill at 11:30 Monday night and at 4:30 Tuesday morning she had passed into the great beyond. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Evans of this place was but nineteen years old and was considered one of the brightest and most beautiful girls in this part of the state as well as one of the most popular. She was a member of the Baptist church having joined about one year ago was also a great Sunday school worker. Her class will greatly miss her. Besides her mother and father she has six brothers and two sisters and a host of friends who are left to mourn her loss. We extend to the bereaved ones our heart felt sympathy. PERSONAL NEWS Judge R. G. Williams was here Sunday. - Mrs. Elbert Hansel is visiting relatives here. - Mrs. John Ramsey is very sick at this writing. - Chester Landrum is attending school at Winchester. - Mrs. A. A. Albright was the guest of Mrs. Owen Jarret. - Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Gentry visited homefolks here this week. - Spurgeom Smith has returned to the Blind school in Louisville. - Dr. W. D. Edmiston was up from Crab Orchard Wednesday. - Mrs. J. B. Hayes, of Livingston was the guest of Mrs. S. Riddle. - Mrs. Ann Owens of Livingston, is with relatives here for a few days. - D. E. Davis has returned to Tyrone where he has a splendid revenue position. - Mrs. Mary Conn is spending a few weeks with relatives in the Hiatt neighborhood. - Mrs. Lou Boulware returned yesterday from several weeks visit at Berea and Kingston. - Mrs. Ann Foster, of Burnside is visiting the families of her brothers Dr. S. C. and W. A. B. Davis. - Mrs. Dee Bryant and children of Lebanon Junction spent several days with relatives near Level Green. - J. L. Moyers, who has been suffering considerably with his eyes for several weeks, is much improved. - Mrs. E. S. Albright was called to London yesterday on account of the serious illness of her sister, Miss Bertie Brock. - Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Nicely are rejoicing over the arrival of a fine boy on last Sunday morning to bless their home. - Mrs. Matilda Jane Cummins who has been in Missouri for the past year, is here on a visit to her children and other relatives. - Eugene Mullins, who has been so very sick for several months, is decidedly improved and much hope for his recovery is now entertained. - Mrs. Fanny Adams, Misses Mat Williams and Reca Baker and little Tevis Bethurun have returned from a months stay at Crab Orchard. - Mrs. Belle Galesbreath of Deland, Fla. has been visiting her sisters, Mrs. J. L. Monday and Mrs. Lillie Butner at Lexington. - Miss Ortha Burdette who is low with consumption was able to be carried from her home to her sister's, Mrs. P. D. Ramsey, last Saturday and back Tuesday. - H. H. Wood, the Wildie merchant was here for a few hours Wednesday morning on his return from Louisville, where he has been for several days buying goods. - Mr. and Mrs. R. K. Powell went to Richmond yesterday to have their baby examined by a specialist. It has been having something like spasms for several months. - Mrs. H. H. wood, of Wildie, and Miss Mary Stewart, of Deland, Fla. and a daughter of Judge I. A. Stewart, were guests of Mr. and Mrs. G. T.
