WILDIE NEWS Rev Green Fish filled his regular appointment at this place Sunday. - Several from here attended the commencement exercises at Berea - Mrs. A.T. Fish and Mrs. Ellen Gillen were visiting relatives and friends at Lancaster and Mt Vernon first of the week. - Harve Bowman was over from Mt Vernon last Sunday. - Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Crawford were visiting the family of H.S. Branaman first of the week. (Note: Mr. and Mrs. Crawford are the deceased grandparents of my wife Norma Crawford Evans. Mrs. Crawford is the former Fannie Branaman) - Misses Anna Branaman and Ella Adams were visiting at Berea last week. - Mrs. Julia Proctor and daughter, Miss Ida, were visiting Mrs. A. C. Towery last week. - Miss Bessie Fish has returned home after several days visit with relatives and friends at Berea. - Mr. and Mrs. Graves of Corbin were the pleasant guests of their sister Mrs. H. S. Branaman first of the week. - Miss Lava Fish visited in Berea last week. CONWAY NEWS The hardest rain yet for a long time fell here Saturday evening of last week. The streams got on a boom in less than one hour after the rain began to fall. - Messrs. J. C. and D. M. Chenault of Richmond were here taking an invoice of the Roundstone Stone Land Co. in which they both have an interest. - Old corn is very scarce here and the prospect for a new crop is poor. - The blackberry crop promises to be good. It is about all in the fruit line that we can depend on for good things to eat to be made out of this season's crop. - Mrs. Charles Kelton of Morning View visited Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Kelton last week. - Mr. Chambers Oldman the accommodating clerk for the Roundstone Land Co. visited Mt Vernon Sunday. - Mr. U. S. Berry and wife visited their brother-in-law, Mr. Sid Asbel at Climax Sunday. - Miss Rena Smith is on the sick list. - Most all from this section who could get away took in the commencement at Berea last week. - Mr. Harvey Chenault wants to rent the Harvey Sigmon property to some one to run a boarding house for the benefit of the traveling public. This is nice property and some hustling man could do well to run a boarding house here. - Wash Claus who has been in bad health for some time has lost his eye site. - It is something ususual up to this time no one has asked for the public school at this place. Usually the field is full of applicants for the school before June 1st. - Mr. David Chenault, of Richmond, ate his 70th birthday dinner with Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Wood Sunday -- Young squirrels are ripe; how long before the law is out? ORLANDO NEWS Born to Mrs. Joe Dooley on June the 12th a girl baby also to Mrs. Frank McNew on June the 5th a fine boy. - Miss Docie Morgan of Berea was the charming visitor of Mrs. Lillie Hundley last week. - Mr. James McGuire of near Johnetta who was reported very sick some weeks ago died last Friday. - Miss Kizzie Ponder of Dudley and Misses Minnie Riddle and Pearlie Owens of Cove Branch attended the commencement exercises at Berea last week. - One of the twin babies of Haze Smith died Sunday and the other one was reported dangerously sick. - Miss Birtie Robinson of Red Hill was visiting relatives here Friday and Saturday. - Mrs. Leslie Clifford was visiting the family of Tom Clifford Saturday and Sunday. - Miss Myrtle Hayes is the guest of Mrs. E. J. Williams this week. - Mrs. Dora Lejer is on the sick list this week. - Mr. Frank Mullins who has a position as operator at Grant's Tunnel was home from Saturday until Monday. - Dr. W. J. Childress was up from Livingston Monday to see Mary Helton who is very sick. - Mrs. George Evans and children were visiting Mr. and Mrs. John Evans Saturday and Sunday. - Stella the two year child of Bogue and Belle Laswell died June 5th at Blanch in Bell county after an illness of two days. The remains were shipped to this place Thursday for burial and was laid to rest the same evening in the family burying ground at Mr. David Laswell's PERSONAL NEWS Mrs. Cleo Brown is in Cincinnati. - Master Will Thompson continues very sick. - Shirley Tate is with relatives at Wildie this week. - Mrs. George Owens was here Monday shopping. - Sadie Richards has been very sick for the past week. - Alex Pennington was here this week visiting relatives. - Mrs. F. L. Thompson has returned from a visit to Stanford. - Attorneys C. C. Williams and J. W. Brown are in Frankfort today. - Mrs. J, J, Cook, of Blanche, Bell county, is visiting relatives at Pine Hill. - Marshal James Taylor is able to be out on the streets after a week's illness. - Ben Parret has returned from Berea where he attended school last year. - Mrs. Neal Parrot visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. Pennington last week. - W. T. Taylor, of the Bee Lick section, was here this week visiting his mother. - Master Allen Pope Brisco has gone to Alabama to spend vacation with relatives. - J. W. and George Proctor were in from Quail looking after some business matters. - Mrs. T. J. Pennington spent Sunday until Tuesday with relatives at Livingston. - Sam Cummins, who has been working at Kuttawa for several months, has returned home. - Mrs. S. E. Davis has returned from three weeks visit with her husband in Anderson county. - Miss Frances Sparks has returned from the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music for summer vacation. - Attorney J. W. Brown attended the burial of Judge J. B. Fish at Williamsburg Tuesday afternoon. - Mrs. D. N. Williams, who underwent a rather serious operation in Cincinnati yesterday, is doing nicely. - We are glad to note that Cashier W. L. Richards has recovered sufficiently to stir around in his room. - Rev. Weaver will preach at the Presbyterian church this evening, tomorrow evening , Sunday morning and Sunday evening. - S. Fuqua, the livery man has been gone for a week carrying drummers through some of the Eastern counties. - Miss Sisson, of the Brown Memorial faculty, is spending a few days with the Misses McFerron before leaving for home. - Capt. M. F. Smith attended Commencement exercises at Loretto College, of which institution his daughter, Miss Elizabeth, was a student. - Agent J. A. Landrum was called to Bowling Green first of the week on account of the serious illness of his brother. He has returned leaving his brother much better. - Misses Mattie Baker, Rilla Hiatt, Jennie Davis and Bessie Mullins attended the Sunday school convention at Livingston Tuesday. They were the guests of Misses Flora and Florence Pennington and Cora Adams. - Mrs. J. P. Hutcheson and daughter, Miss Uta of Owenton, Miss Tot McAfee of Lewisburg, Barbee McAfee Cashier Pine Knot Banking Co., H. H. Hutcheson, Mr. McCoy of Kirksville, and Cashier and Mrs. J. W. Hutcheson were the guests of Cashier and Mrs. M. B. Salin. - Rev. and Mrs. M. G. Fish attended the convention at Livingston Tuesday. - Amanda Lee, the little daughter of Bob Lee, has been sent to the school of reform. - Mr. Richels, who has been confined to his bed for so long, is gradually growing weaker. - G. C. Fish was with his brother Judge Fish at Williamsburg during the Judge's last hours. -- Miss Eva Fish and brother, Jno. Spent several days at Williamsburg with their uncle, Judge Fish during his last sickness. - W. T. Davis the efficient and ever faithful foreman of this office has been confined to his room most of the week on account of illness. - Miss Maymie Furguson, teacher in the Institute for the blind at Louisville, is at home for vacation. Spurgeon Smith, son of Mrs. Kittie Smith and a student at that school, came with her. BRODHEAD NEWS Mrs. J. H. Dunn and mother, Mrs. Edwards of Knoxville, Tenn., visited Mrs. F. Francisco first of the week. - Mrs. G. W. Brooks has returned to her home at Knoxville after spending six weeks here with her mother, Mrs. M. E. Wilmott. - Mrs. J. W. Hutcheson has as her guests Miss Alma McAfee of Harrodsburg and Miss Uta Hutcheson of Owenton. - B. R. Wilmott of Lebanon Junction is at home for a few days. Jno. E. Evans was in Louisville first of the week. - Judge L. W. Bethurum was here Monday with H. H. Hutcheson. - J. H. Vanhook visited J. Thos. Cherry first of the week. - The new Baptist church will be dedicated the 2nd Sunday in August. - Announcements have been received for the Hutcheson - Parker nuptials at Rocky Mount, Va. on June 19th. Particulars later. LOCAL NEWS Death: News reached here a few days ago of the death of Dr. L. L. Sowder, at Parsons, Kansas. Dr. Sowder has been in very serious condition for several years. He was a son of Mr. A. C. Sowder, of Level Green, one of the county's best and most substantial citizens. - Death: Judge J. B. Fish died at his home in Williamsburg Monday at 10:25 P. M. A truly good man gone to his reward. Judge Fish was a native of this county and belonged to one of the county's most prominent families. For several years he had been a sufferer of rheumatism and about the first of last March he went to Hot Springs to seek relief from his very great suffering. Instead of finding relief it seemed to work entirely to the opposite and after returning home he soon found himself in a more serious condition than before. Paralysis came upon him and for more than three months he was almost as helpless as a new born babe. Besides his wife and three bright children, Ed, Elizabeth, and Ambrose he leaves on brother, G. C. Fish of this county and one sister, Mrs. S. L. Whithead, of Norton, Va. The remains were laid to rest in the Williamsburg cemetery Tuesday afternoon. HIATT NEWS Rev. Fish filled his appointment at Wildie Sunday. - Mrs. Per Adams, we are glad to say, is much improved. - Quite a crowd from this place attended Berea Commencement last week. -- Misses Bessie Hiatt and Clide Lair returned home Friday from a few days visit to Berea. - Albert Fish, of Wildie, attended church here Sunday. - Jack Henderson, of Berea, is the guest of his cousin Walter Hysinger this week. - Dewit Pritchit, of Danville who has been visiting his sister, Mrs. Cash Hiatt, returned home Monday. - A. C. Hiatt and Homer Chesnut made a flying trip to Stanford Monday. - QUAIL NEWS Elder J. L. Davis filled his regular appointment at Providence Sunday. A large crowd attended. - Mrs. Elizabeth Owens still remains very feeble. - Dr. D. E. Proctor is in Louisville this week on business. - Perry Carlton and wife of Bloss were in this part Sunday. - Dr. J. F. Watson, of Brodhead is attending the bedside of his sick mother, Mrs. Martin Owens. - David Proctor and wife spent Monday night with their son, Theard, of near Small, Ky. - John Scott contemplates going to Indiana soon. - The little child of J. T. Hurst is very sick. - E. A. Herrin continues about the same. - Joe Logsdon, better known as Emmett, will leave for Somerset soon. - Mrs. Luther Owens is on the sick list. WABD NEWS Mr. Hamp Daily, of Mt Vernon, passed through this section Sunday en route to Burnetts chappel. - A.T. Taylor and family and John Taylor and family, Johnson City, Ill; William Taylor and wife, of Brush Creek and G. S. Livesay and wife of Wabd spent Sunday with Robert Taylor and daughter, of Mt Vernon. - Uncle George Livesay, Sr. sold a farm known as the Ben Livesay tract of land to his son, G. S. Livesay for $1400. - Miss Pearl Bray was the guest of Mrs. Stephen Cash Sunday. - G. S. Livesay, Jr. bought a yearly mule from J. T.
