Fish filled his regular appointment at Wildie Sunday. - Miss Nettie Fish of Wildie is the guest of her cousin, Miss Minnie Hiatt this week. - Rev. Tommy Smith filled his regular appointment at this place Sunday. - Several of this place attended church at Wildie Sunday. - Miss Maggie Dowell and Mr. Sheridan Bowman were married at the home of the bride Monday afternoon. - Mrs. M. G. Fish is numbered among the sick this week. - Mr. Elijah Brock attended church here Sunday. - A. C. Hiatt was in Stanford Monday. - Mrs. C. M. Hiatt is slowly improving. - Mrs. Pritchet of Danville who has been visiting her daughter, Mrs. C. M. Hiatt returned home Sunday. - Mr. Albert Fish made a flying trip to Hiatt last week. - Miss Anna Pritchet is visiting her sister, Mrs. Mollie Hiatt. - The farmers are busy planting corn this week. - Miss Rhoda Bowman and her brother of Mt Vernon were in Hiatt Sunday. LIVINGSTON NEWS Miss Dollie Elkins and Mrs. Ed Owens have returned after a short visit with their brothers Esther and Fred and also Mrs. Owens husband at Falmouth. - Mr. and Mrs. James Anderson have moved into the house belonging to Mrs. Sue Mullins on Mullins Avenue. - J. V. Hayes is having a new roof and other improvements to his residence on Mullins Avenue. - Mrs. James Parson and children of Berea and Miss Clavie McGuire of this place have been visiting friends and relatives beyond Brodhead but have returned home, and report a nice visit. - Miss Mattie McFerron has returned from Waldencia, Tenn. where she has been teaching school. She also visited Chattanooga and other places just before returning. - Dr. W. J. Childress is attending the Rail Road Surgeon's Association in Frankfort this week. - Mrs. J. E. Woodall has moved her millinery store into the room adjoining Jenning's and Brummit's restaurant on South Main Street. - Mrs. James Dane of Coal Creek is visiting her sister, Mrs. Longmire of this place. - Tom Masden was down from Lebanon Junction Sunday calling on one of our pretty young ladies. - Mr. and Mrs. Frank Geisel, of Crab Orchard spent part of last week with Mrs. Geisel's brother, Joe Dickerson and family. - Garrard Burton is here from Drakesboro, Ky. visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Burton at the Mullins Hotel. - Chas. and Will Rice have returned to Lebanon Junction after a visit with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Rice. - Smiling Dave Jackson was with our merchants Wednesday. - Casper Adams was in Lancaster Saturday on Business. - Miss Lida Cook led the prayer meeting at the Christian church Wednesday evening. A big crowd and an interesting lesson was reported. - Mrs. Sue Mullins has been improving her residence by having new paper hung on all the walls. She has also been repairing her houses on Mullins Avenue. - Miss Myrtle Chewing will lead prayer meeting next Wednesday evening. The subject will be "A Gentile Chosen" Acts Chapter 10 Verses 34-43. - Mr. J. A. Mullins says he don't like single blessedness very much and is only waiting for a favorable decision of court to take unto himself a wife. We are well aware that "John" has been calling on one of out prettiest young widows for some time and here is wishing him success and happiness for many years to come. - Mrs. Robert Lanseer is visiting her parents at McMunnville, Tenn. - Miss Carrie Baugh has returned to her home at Mershon's roads after a visit with relatives and friends here. - OTTAWA NEWS Jesse W. Brown sold to J. M. Craig 7 hogs for $43.90. - Joe Brown, Sr., visited William Oliver and family Thursday. - Vessie Brown had an attack of measles during the past week. - Wheat and grass looks very favorable in this section . - The farmers were getting behind with their work in this section because of the recent rains, nut they have been putting in full time since the pretty weather began. - Levi Sowder, the huxter of Preachersville, will be in this part of the county next Thursday. - J. B. Sutton went to Brodhead Friday last. - Andrew Long and family of Pulaski county, visited relatives here Saturday and Sunday. - Several of the young men of near East Bernstadt, were here with homefolks Saturday and Sunday. - Robert Wallen was in Brodhead Friday and Saturday on business. - Prof. Elijah Wallen left Saturday for the railroad after being with homefolks for a few days. - Charlie Brown visited relatives and friends near Krueger Saturday and Sunday. - James Farris bought of Frank Cash a yoke of cattle for $60. - Mr. and Mrs. Tart Proctor visited relatives at Quail Saturday. - Robert Brown and family visited J. W. Brown Sunday. - Mr. Barnet and a friend of his of near Harrodsburg, Ky. have been visiting C. S. Armstrong of this place. - Charlie Sowder and family visited relatives here Sunday. - S. T. Proctor left Sunday for Brodhead. - Quite a number of people from this section attended the dedication at Poplar Grove Sunday. - Bud Stringer, of Quail spent Saturday night with Lincoln Stringer and wife of this vicinity. - Mrs. Sallie Sowder went to Brodhead Monday to have some dental work done. - Miss Hayes, of Lincoln county, spent Saturday and Sunday with Mrs. Jno. Denny of this section. - Mr. and Mrs. Hiram Thompson visited Bill Thompson and family of near Krueger Monday last. QUAIL NEWS Rev. J. L. Davis filled his regular appointment at Providence Saturday and Sunday. - Melvin Owens returned home Sunday from Livingston. - J. T. Watson of Brodhead spent Sunday with his mother, Mrs. Martin Owens who is very sick and not expected to live but a short while. - Granville Owens of Brodhead spent Sunday last with Elder Martin Owens. - Mrs. James Parsons of Berea visited relatives in this part last week. - Miss Clevie McGuire one of Livingston's fairest belles was the pleasant guest of her sister, Mrs. D. K. Herrin the past week. - Sheep shearing and corn planting is the order of the day. - On Saturday June the 8th there will be decoration of the graves at Providence church cemetery. Everybody is cordially invited. Bring full baskets of dinner. Also, services will be conducted by Rev, J. L. Davis. - W. H. J. Brown was up from Stanford Tuesday to see W. L. Richards with Dr. Adkins. - Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Houk spent Sunday with Mrs. Houk's parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. H. Martin. - J. P. Graham and George Proctor, after an illness of several days are able to be out on the streets again. - Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Rider, Judge L. W. Bethurum, F. L. Thompson, SR., and Walter Miller are in the city. - Miss Maud Hansel has returned from an extended visit with her brother, Elmer, at Lebanon Junction. - Egbert Wallen, special agent for the Q. & C. railroad, has been transferred from Somerset to Oakdale, Tenn. - Franks Meyers, assistant foreman with Tony Brook's extra gang at New Hope, was with homefolks Sunday. - M. L. Denham is at home this week on the account of the illness of Mrs. Denham. She ix reported better at this time. - George Owens went to Stanford Wednesday to set up a monument to the grave of Mr. Aling, father of Mrs. C. H. Rice. - Cashier W. L. Richards has been very much improved for two days. It is believed that the change for the better has come. - Mrs. Donaldson, of Warsaw is with her brother, Cashier W., L. Richards, who is very sick with fever, but improved over last week. - Mrs. J. W. Brown and Misses Reca Baker and Alza Thompson went to Louisville Wednesday to see Maud Adams in Peter Pan at McCauleys. LOCAL NEWS E. B. Cox sold to H. M. Johnson one pair of 3 year old mules for $292.50. - The Christian church is soon to have a new coat of paint. A much needed improvement. - J. E. Dickey, who has been managing the rink at this place since it opened, has closed down, and gone to Burgin to take charge of a rink there. The skaters say that the rink will go on and a club will be organized if someone does not take control. - Cecil McClary opened his new bank at Troy, Ky., last Saturday under most flattering conditions. Cecil is one of Rockcastle's noblest young men and we sincerely hope that he will make a great success. - I have been appointed a committee to wind up the business of G. W. Owens, now confined to the lunatic asylum and all persons holding claims against him will present same to me properly proven by June 1st. Also all parties indebted to him will please settle at once. - County teachers examinations today and tomorrow. - Born to the wife of Charley Simpson a fine girl baby. - Rev. Weaver will preach at the Presbyterian church next Sunday morning and evening. - In a fight at Livingston yesterday, Hi Cox stabbed and seriously wounded George Durbin. - DOWEL-BOWMAN Mr. Sheridan Bowman, son of L. A. Bowman and Miss Magie Dowel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Dowel, were married at the home of the bride a few days since. The Rev. M. G. Fish officated. BRODHEAD NEWS Robt. G. Wilmott has resigned his position as assistant cashier of Pine Knot Banking Company at Pine Knot, Ky., to take a more lucrative position as Cashier of Citizens of Nepton Ky. He will remain at home until July 1st when he takes charge of his new duties. - Miss Anna Cass has returned home from Pine Hill - Mat Bowling spent a few days with his parents at McWhorter in Laurel county. - Homer Wallen, of Somerset was in Brodhead Saturday and Sunday to see one of our belles. - J. E. Wallen, of Somerset, spent Sunday with his family here. - A. C. Kidwell, of Lebanon Junction was here Saturday. - Mrs. G. W. Brooks has returned to her home in Knoxville, after spending two pleasant weeks here as the guest of her mother, Mrs. M. E. Wilmott. - Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Hilton, of Pine Hill, are visiting their many friends and relatives here. - Miss Minnie Gentry, of Spiro, was the charming visitor of Miss Lizzie Cable first of the week. - Thos. W. Evans, brakeman, of Lebanon Junction, is at home a very sick man, caused by jumping from the top of a box car at East Bernstadt last Tuesday night. - Wm. Watson and wife, of Kirksville, have returned home after spending several days here as the guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Watson. - Chas. R. Pike, of Knoxville, Tenn. is with his parents, Rev. and Mrs. A. Pike for a few days. - Mrs. Susie Cherry is attending the Commencement Exercises of Morehead Normal College where her niece, Miss Ethel Cherry Hilton, graduates. - Dr. O. O. Stone, a graduate of the Louisville Dental College, has located here for the practice of his profession. He will be found in his office any day in the Citizens Bank building. -- Mrs. W. E. Sproule has returned to her home in Paris after spending several days here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. Francisco. She was accompanied home by her sister, Miss Jewel, who will remain there for two weeks. - Rev. A. J. Pike preached at North Fork Baptist church in Marion county last week. - J. Thos. Cherry and wife were in Lancaster last Sunday. - Mr. and Mrs. A. V. Smith are visiting in the country this week. - Mr. and Mrs. W. K. Shugars spent last Sunday with Mr. Shugars parents at Lancaster. - W. R. Gott & Co. purchased 4200 doz. Eggs here last Monday.
