Graham, of Louisville, filled Rev. Masters pulpit at the Christian church last Sunday morning and evening. - Rev. A. J. Pike and son, Goebel, have returned from a trip through Harrison County. - Geo. Yadon, of Louisville, is spending a few days with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Yadon. - A large crowd from here attended court first of the week. - Roscoe Pike, of Louisville is here for a few days. - Miss Susie Hunt, of Maretburg, is spending a few days with her sister-in-law, Mrs. W. A. Hunt. - Reynolds and Barnes have installed a five-horse power gasoline engine in their already wood and iron shop. - Ora Frith visited Miss Lucy Reynolds at Bee Lick last week. - Jacob Elder and his most estimable family have moved back to his farm near Quail. We dislike very much to give them up. - Albright & Adams have put on a delivery wagon and will now put your goods in your house free of charge. - Senator Sutton addressed a very large audience here last Monday night. His lecture was highly enjoyed by all present. LANGFORD NEWS We had plenty of company Sunday on account of the pay car paying crosstie men. - Frank Leger is making a nice beginning at his farming. - Winzie Baker has moved to the Bigfill to work for Sparks. - We are having a hustle out of the ladies now, they are trying to see who will be the first to get choice of the fine lot of hats that were opened up Monday at Mrs. Della Baker's store. - A few of our farmers are trying to get their tools and seeds ready so when it quits raining they can get busy. - Mrs. Della Owens visited relatives at Brushcreek Sunday. - Mr. Marvel Coffey remains very feeble. - Mrs. Rachel Robins is in a serious condition and is not expected to recover. - Jones Proctor, of Brushcreek, visited his sister, Mrs. Lillie Sharp Sunday last. - We are glad to say that Lee Proctor is still on foot and is improving. - John Dowel has moved to his new house. - Mrs. Addie Coffey has very sick child. - Joe Adams has moved to his brother's house about two and one half miles from this place. - There will be preaching at Hummel Grove next Saturday and Sunday. - Mrs. Nannie Baker and daughter Jennie Simpson visited Mrs. John Evans Sunday last. She is the former Ellen Ramsey Wolf) - William Simpson will move to Berea. - We are told that Mr. George Taylor has lost his speech. - Uncle Anderson Proctor is improving slowly. - D. L. Carter and J. H. Reynolds were in Mt Vernon Monday. - John Reynolds, of Lincoln County, visited relatives at this place last week. - Paris Sowder, of Skeggs Creek, visited his sister Mrs. Della Baker at this place last week. - Uncle Robert Leger is having some timber sawed for the purpose of adding a portico to his dwellimg. - David Adams made a flying trip to Wildie on Monday. - W. T. Sharp went to Mt Vernon Tuesday on business. OTTAWA NEWS The singing school at Union being conducted by Jacob Elder and Will Owens is progressing nicely. - Farmers are busy in this locality. - Messrs. Ernie Herrin and Maurice Proctor visited relatives in this vicinity Saturday night. - The wheat crop is looking very favorable in this section. - Mr. Squire Cummins and little daughter Roberta Brown visited J. W. Brown and family Sunday. - Tart Proctor is numbered among the sick at this issue. - Mr. James H. Barnett was in Brodhead Tuesday on business. - J. B. Sutton and J. J. Brown were in Mt Vernon Tuesday. - There is a good deal of sickness in this vicinity at present. ORLANDO NEWS We are having beautiful weather and it seems that spring is here indeed. - Fidell Robinson has moved to Jerry Laswell's farm. - Mrs. Sarah Mason of Dudley is on the sick list. - Joe Reams of this place left Sunday for Cincinnati where he will take a business course. - Mrs. Susan Pennington of Mt Vernon is visiting her mother who remains in very poor health. - The infant of Albert Chandler is very sick. - John Anderson and Stephen Gibson went to Beatyville Monday. - James Hacket and wife, of Dudley, were guests of Mrs. Dora Ball Sunday. - The grip has about subsided in this vicinity. - Miss Lynda Ballard of near Robinette who has been quite sick is reported to be somewhat better at this writing. - Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ball, of Hazel Patch, were visiting Mr. J. L. Ball this week. - Mrs. Susan Reams was visiting at Berea this week. QUAIL NEWS Mr. John Craig, we are glad to say is improving. - Rev. Martin Owens we are glad to say is much improved. - James Herrin has moved into his new dwelling. - Jacob Elder has moved back to his old homestead glad to welcome you back Jacob. - Luther Owens is on the sick list. - Edgar Brown and Miss Georgia Herrin were united in the holy ties of wedlock Thursday last. Here's wishing them much joy and a long and prosperous life. Rev. James Cummins did the officiating. - Mr. J. W. Proctor the hustling merchant of this place is doing a splendid business. - DEATH: Mrs. O. A. Gentry died on Saturday March 20. 1908. For sometime she had been a sufferer of that dreaded disease consumption. She was the oldest daughter of Geo. Proctor. She leaves a husband, six children, father and mother to mourn the loss of a devoted wife, mother, and daughter. She was a member of the Church of Christ and was about 38 years of age. The remains were laid to rest Sunday afternoon in the Old Lawrence cemetery to await the last great day. LEVEL GREEN NEWS Mr. Editor, as there is no one writing from our big town of Level Green, I will try my hand to let the people know a little of what is going on in this part. - The farmers of this section are getting along very well with their work. - Mullins Brothers, our hustling traders, are buying plenty scrub cattle at present. A. J. Mullins bought a cow from Cricket Oneil, price paid $26.50. - B. F. Sutton is doing a good business at present. He has reduced the price on his goods so that he will not have so many to move, as he will soon migrate to Wadel to do business at that place. - T. J. Price, our hustling Dr. and merchant, is kept on the go all the time as there is a good deal of sickness in this part. - Cricket Oneil, who has been down with the grip for the past three weeks is some better. - The little son of James Bullock, who has pneumonia, is some better. - B. F. Sutton and family visited J. J. Debord last Sunday. - Jarvis J. Brown is at Pittsburg attending the bedside of his son who has the measles. - O. H. DeBord bought of William DeBord a pony for $75. - John Shutts, our hustling mill man says he will soon have his saw rig in running order. - Charlie Thompson, the boy who was shot by Jud Hatcher, has got so he can walk about. WITHERS NEWS W. G. Mullins of Disputanta was visiting homefolks here this week. W. G. said he had built a new house and barn. Seems to have been doing a lot of work. - The rock and sand quarry at this place seems to be running along at good speed. - Many of the people here are attending court at Mt Vernon this week. - E. Mullins was over Tuesday to attend to the store while Fred was in Mt Vernon . - J. C. and T. R. Mullins have their saw mill in good shape to do some nice work this spring. - Mrs. W. J. Dooley, of Berea, was down to see Withers' friends last week. PERSONAL NEWS Thomas Brown was here this week. - J. M. Parsons and W. T. Baker are here from Berea as witnesses. - E. B. Brown, of Lebanon Junction, spent a few days here this week. - Mr. Noe, the gentlemen, who purchased I. A. Bowman's farm, has moved to it. - W. F. Ames, Cashier of the Jeffersontown bank spent a few days here first of the week. - C. A. Davis expects to be able to return to his work on the L & N about the first of week. - Chas. C. Davis went to Hustonville Wednesday and purchased a nice combined horse at a fancy price. - W. H. Bowers, agent at Berea, but at one time a compositor in the Signal office, was a visitor in our town Wednesday. - Cashier M. B. Salin spent the week with his mother at Owenton. H. H. Hutcheson was acting cashier in his absence. - Kan Adams who has been located at Hamilton, Ohio for some time, is spending two weeks vacationing with his mother. - Elmer Lechleiter was given the first degree Masonry Monday night and Atty. C. C. Williams received his first last night. - A. B. Furnish and sister, Mrs. W. L. Richards, were called to Gallatin County this week to be present at the winding up of the estate of the father, whose will was probated Monday. - C. H. White returned from Tucson, Ariz. yesterday afternoon. If Mr. White does not go to work for the L & N, he and Mrs. White, who used to be Miss Cora Adams, will return to the West in a short time to make their future home. LOCAL NEWS CIRCUIT COURT The Rockcastle Circuit Court convened Monday with Judge M. L. Jarvis on the bench, looking almost himself again, after a very severe siege of measles which had him confined to his room for several weeks. Commonwealth Attorney B. J.
