Evans were at Mt Vernon Tuesday night. - Mrs. Nannie C. Albright, of Mt Vernon is here visiting her many friends and relatives. - Don't miss the big picnic at the fairgrounds on July 4th. - Mr. and Mrs. Marion Sullivan and daughter, of Williamsburg, are here the guests of their many friends and relatives. - Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Hutcheson and son, James Edward, are visiting Mr. Hutcheson parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Hutcheson, at Owenton, Ky. - Misses Carrie Frith and Lizzie Cable, and Messrs. W. R. Dickerson and E. R. Gentry are attending the institute at Mt Vernon this week. -- Mrs. M. E. Wilmott is visiting her brother, Granville Leece, on Copper Creek. - Woodyard Owens left Wednesday for Lebanon Junction to accept a very lucrative position with the L & N. - Thos W. Evans has returned to his position at Lebanon Junction after being at home for five weeks laid up with rheumatism. - Mrs. Nattie Howell, of St Louis, is here visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Yadon. - Rev. A. J. Pike and Dick Albright were in Garrard county last week preaching. - Wiley Hawkins was at home last week. - Mrs. Lou Storms and Sherley Adams have returned home after a two weeks stay in Garrard and Boyle counties. - There will be a union meeting at Watts's chapel 1 1/2 miles East of Crab Orchard Road, on Sunday June 30th 1907. Three different denominations will be represented by a preacher who will preach a sermon and give a lecture. Everybody come and bring dinner. Services will begin at 10 o'clock A.M. BEE LICK NEWS There will be services held at Bethel Saturday and Sunday by Rev. R. E. Todd. - E. A. Herrin, one of our very best citizens is, we are sorry to say, is in very critical condition and much uneasiness is entertained as to his recovery. - Morris Taylor and A. E. Proctor visited the fair sex at Ottawa Sunday. - W. E. Taylor and family spent Saturday and Sunday with his father at Quail. - Wheat cutting is making the farmers, get a move on themselves during these warm days. - Miss Addie Taylor has returned to her home in Mt Vernon after several days visit to her cousin, Miss Margie Taylor. - Mrs. Robert Taylor continues on the sick list. - David Adams and family visited Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Price of Bandy last Saturday and Sunday. - A good rain is needed very badly now for gardens and crops are late throughout this section of the county. - Dr. Bradford Warren of this place gets a large practice and is well liked by all for a young doctor and a new one. ORLANDO NEWS The infant of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Baker is seriously ill. - Mr. Charlie Anderson, who has been in Washington City for several months returned home Tuesday. - Mrs. Hettie Mason was called to Corbin this week on account of the serious illness of her little grand daughter, Georgia Bales. - George Childress is spending a few days with homefolks and friends at this place. - Mr. Callie Mullins, son of Will Mullins, deceased, died Sunday. He leaves a wife, who was Miss Mary Allen, and one child to mourn his death. - Mr. and Mrs. Major Ball, who has been visiting homefolks at this place for a few days returned home to Flanigan today. Jack Laswell and several others from here are attending the institute this week. - Harrison Reams had a three year old horse hit by a train and hurt very badly. - George Proctor is much worse and not expected to live but a short time. --Mr. and Mrs. James Hatchett were visiting relatives here Sunday. - We have two progressive Sunday schools near Orlando, and hope the place will become somewhat reformed thereby. Both schools are very well attended. - Mr. and Mrs. Wilmer Chesnut were up to see George Proctor Sunday. - Miss Myrtle Hayes, who was visiting at Brush Creek last week returned to her home at Wildie Sunday. - Frank Ball and wife are spending a few days with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Ball. - Mrs. Mary Mason and children were visiting Mrs. Lizzie Ball, Tuesday. - Jerry Laswell is on the sick list at present. - Rev. and Mrs. Williams visited their son, Elmer, Sunday. - Mrs. Martha Owens, of Dudley, was in our town Wednesday shopping. - Mrs. Belle Laswell has returned to her home at Blanche Bell county. - There is a great deal of sickness with the children in this vicinity. - There will be preaching at Maple Grove Saturday and Sunday. Dinner on the ground Saturday; everybody come and bring full baskets. - The infant of Mr. and Mrs. I. A. Chasteen is very sick. - Dr. Lee Chesnut came home from Louisville Saturday to attend the institute at Mt Vernon this week. GRIFFINS MILL NEWS Farmers are very busy in their wheat harvest this week. - Sunday School at Poplar Grove is progressing nicely with James Hurst as Superintendent. - Mrs. J. C. Elder of near Stanford visited her sister, Mrs. J. B. Cummins of this place last week. - W. H. Brown and family visited relatives in Pulaski county Saturday and Sunday. - Mr. Charlie Brown of Arkansas is visiting his uncle J. W. Brown of Walnut Grove. - Elder J. M. Cummins filled his regular appointment at Liberty Saturday and Sunday. - Elder Reubin Hurley preaches at Poplar Grove the third Sunday of every month at 11 o'clock. - The teachers of this neighborhood are attending the institute at Mt Vernon this week. - Misses Fannie Thompson, Sallie and Daisy Thomas attended the teachers examination on Friday and Saturday. - On June 13th the little spirit of William Hurst took its flight to a brighter and better world. His loss is deeply felt, and the whole community extend to the family their heartfelt sympathy. CONWAY NEWS J. P. Chenault who has been visiting at this place returned to his home at Richmond. He expects to visit the Jamestown Exposition next week. - George and Joe Childress, from Hamilton, Ohio, are visiting their sister, Mrs. Joe Wood. - D. C. Pullins is a business caller at Mt Vernon this week. - The Round Stone Land Co.'s. great clearance sale ended Saturday. - Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Chenault have returned to their home in Richmond after a visit with Mr. and Mrs. D. G. Martin at Boone. - Miss Nettie Oldham has resigned her position as clerk for the Round Stone Land Co. , and expects to begin teaching school near Richmond in a short time. - Mrs. Evans of Berea, is visiting her sister, Mrs. J. C. Wood this week. PERSONAL NEWS Dr. Will Brown was up from Parksville last week. - Miss Ella Joplin is the guest of Mrs. J. W. Brown. - Mrs. G. M. Ballard has been very sick since Friday. - Atty. and Mrs. B. J. Bethurum are here for Circuit Court. - Mrs. Nannie Albright is visiting relatives at Brodhead. - James DeVault, L & N brakeman, was with homefolks Tuesday. - Mr. and Mrs. R. G. Moore were here yesterday having some dental work done. - George Proctor will soon be out again from his second attack of fever. - E. C. Walton, the poplar editor of the Interior Journal, was here Monday. - James White, Jr., spent Tuesday and Wednesday the guest of Chas. McKensie. - Mrs. R. B. Mullins returned Saturday from a visit to relatives in Tennessee. - Cashier Richards made his first trip to town in twelve weeks last Monday. - Little Mary Elizabeth Fish, of Williamsburg, is visiting her uncle, G. C. Fish. - Miss Margarite McClary has returned from De Land, Fla. and is with Mrs. Brown. - Miss Georgia McFerron is the guest of the family of her brother, Sheriff R. L. McFerron. - Mrs. Matilda Houk has gone to the country to spend a month with her sister, Mrs. Jame Bloomer. - Tom Clifford has gone to Riversburg, Tenn. to help install the new rock crusher for W. J. Sparks. - Mr. and Mrs. Vic Brown, of Pittsburg, are visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Brown, at Level Green. - Den McClure was here Monday. Den is the third oldest fireman on the K. C. and is now in line for a promotion. - N. H. Oliver and wife and Mrs. Georgia McClure, of Lebanon Junction, visited relatives and friends here. - Mesdames Bettie Fredrich and Mahala Jones went to Barbourville yesterday afternoon for a few days visit. - Miss Marie and Bertie Brock came down from London Wednesday to spend a few days with their sister, Mrs. Albright. - Quite a number of the representative citizens of the county have been in attendance at court this week Too many for us to attempt to mention by name. - Mr. J. G. Frith, Ora Frith and Miss Carrie Frith, of Brodhead, came down yesterday to attend the burial of their relative, William O'Bannon Interior Journal - G. W. Taylor, who has been sick for sometime, was reported no better a few days ago. Mr. Taylor is one of our best citizens and we sincerely trust he may soon be himself again. - Chester Landrum, son of agent J. A. Landrum is working nights at the L & N office at this place. - Of the many boys who have learned under Mr. Landrum, none has made better progress than Chester. - Hon. J. C. Chenault and wife passed a few most pleasant days in Rockcastle county at the home of D. G. Martin, an old resident of this county. Mr. Chenault speaks in the highest term imaginable of the delightful entertainment given him and his wife by Mr. Martin and his charming wife. Richmond Climax. - Miss Margarite Fish is here for a three week's visit. - Judge T. Z. Morrow is attending court here this week. - Dr. E. J. Brown was up from Stanford Wednesday to see Mrs. G. M. Ballard in consultation with Dr. Atkins. - D. G. Roach was called to Manchester last night on account of sickness of his wife. - Mr. J. J. McCall, of Mt Vernon, a prominent resident of Rockcastle, is in Danville for a short stay. Danville Advocate. - Mary Elizabeth, the little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Lawrence has been sick for several days. She is better at this time. - Robt. Wilmott, Manely Albright and John Evans came up Tuesday to attend the social given at the court-house for the benefit of the teachers. - Jack Maret and family who have been visiting relatives at Berea for several days were on yesterdays train enroute to their home in Illinois. - Judge L. W. Bathurum, Atty. J. W. Brown, John Parsons, John C. Taylor and Jas. Cottongim were at Stanford as witnesses in the Jas. Ballou trial. LOCAL NEWS Circuit Court convened Monday with Judge Jarvis on the bench, and Hon. B. J. Beturum acting as Commonwealth Attorney.
