Thompson the star grocery drummer who also carries patent medicines was in town a few day since DEATHS Joe Cromer died Wednesday of pneumonia Mrs Geo Hiatt died Monday of appendicitis. Mrs Hiatt was well known to many of the people throught the county and her sad and unfortunate death will be a source of great regret to many of our people Miss Laura Hysinger daughter of David Hysinger died Friday last of consumption Mrs L.L. Stroud died Tuesday mornign in this city at the residence of her daugher MRs W.H. Taylor on West Hickory street. Teh remains were interred at the Old Fellows cemetery at 10 am yesterday. Mrs Stroud was 86 years 3 months and 18 days old and was born in Livingston, Ky. She was an old resident of Denton and was lvoed and liked by all. She was married to the late L.L. Stroud in kentucky. Her husband died in this city about eight years ago. After thier marriage they moved to Dade county, Mo and from that place to Texas in the spring of 1856. They had three children two daughters and one son. Mrs Stroud had been living for a number of yeras past with her daughter Mrs W.H. Taylor, Mrs Stroud had been a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian church since childhood, and was an earnest christian lady. The courts of Justice in dealing with such characters cannot be too riged and the sooner they can be locked up in the pen the better it will be for the whole country Mrs H.C. gentry ran a very narrow excape of bieng mad dog bit, a few days since as site was going out to her sons Meshac Gentry who lives only a short distance out from town. When she started she took with her a favorite dowy which she had had for some time, when only a short distance out she came to a small stream and there noticed something wrong with the dog, but rode on paying but little attention to it, shortly she saw the dog coming at full speed ran up to her and began trying to bit her. The slober were running from the dogs mouth in an incessant stream. She being able to retain her mind and nerve enought to keep the dog off until she could side up to the fence. Leaving her horse stand she walked a rail feence for quite a distance till she came to a small tree and there with the activity of a youth she climbed the tree and remained there until some parties came along who killed the dog BRODHEAD J.B.
