Mr. Evans was a telegraph operator and station master for the C & O Railroad 45 years, retiring in 1964. He was a member of Phelps Masonic Lodge, Farmers, Ky., Eastern Star, Rebecca Lodge and Order of Railroad Telegraphers Union. He was also a past grand master of Kentucky Odd Fellows Lodge 82 and was named a Kentucky Colonel. Memorial contributions may be made to Agape Christian Church, 10607 E. 56th St., Indianapolis. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the church, with calling from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday in Harry W. Moore Appleget Northeast Chapel, Indianapolis. Burial will be in Mt. Summit (Ind.) Cemetery. He was the widower of Violet Snider Evans. Survivors _ sons John J. Sr., Richard L.
